My family is lucky enough to have numerous doilies that were sewn by our great grandmother.

“I wanted to learn how to make bobbin laces ever since I watched a TV program about it. There were hundreds of bobbins and thousands of pins and it was …. amazing… Not so many people know what the bobbin lace is, so I prepared a short video to present you one little doily which I like very much.” Magdalena PolishOrigins Team Bobbin Lace - How I made a nice doily. Magdalena agreed to make a short presentation of Bobbin Lace making on the PO Galicia Tour this September and October! See more details about the tour: galicia.polishorigins.com There are still openings waiting for you! #POGaliciaTour

Oh my I love this and you do it so beautifully! What size thread are you using in this video?
@Polishorigins
@Polishorigins 3 жыл бұрын
I am sorry but I don't remember the thread's size I used but you can always choose the size you want to use and adjust the pattern size :) Fortunately making a copy is very easy nowadays.

What do you fill your pillow with? I like the convenient way of putting unused bobbins aside, and large patterns possibility without trouble. I agree, the pattern is beautiful and it would be nice to be able to print it, as well as the details of stitches used. I know... we always ask for more... Thanks anyway!

Thank you for posting your video making this beautiful doily. I would very much like to make this doily but I have been unable to locate a copy of the July 2004 Anna magazine. I am in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Do you know or does anyone know who made the original pattern or how I could get a copy of this pattern? I would love to try my hand at it because it is so beautiful. Thank you to anyone who can help me. Mary Makuta, Ballwin, Missouri.

@@Polishorigins Three years later I think I am ready to take on this pattern and give it a try. :) Can you give direction as to what stitch is used on the outer petal area? Thank you in advance.

Would be nice to see more of that as there are very few bobbin lace vids that actually show anything. Good work! Might I ask you where did you get that pattern from? It's very nice.

I also like this pattern very much. Information about where this pattern is from I included at the very end of the video. It is from "Anna" magazine no 7/2004

I have sent an email to the Anna magazine people but have not received a reply as yet. I am hoping someone who has this Anna magazine 7/2004 issue could tell me where to get the pattern for the doily. Thank you. Mary Makuta, Ballwin, Missouri, USA

@Polishorigins

+Hammond Organist The pattern comes from "Anna" magazine no 7/2004 (polish edition). I regret it is not being published any longer in Poland. I shared it on our forum. If you only want you can find it here: forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?p=26913#26913 .

+PolishOrigins what size does it need to be once printed out?
@Polishorigins
@Polishorigins 8 жыл бұрын
+Hammond Organist Originally the pattern has diameter of 21 cm (about 8.27 inches) but the size depends also on thickness of thread you want to use to make it. I enlarged it when used not very thin flax thread and I made original size when used thin cotton thread.

on your pattern does it really matter where you start
@Polishorigins
@Polishorigins 8 жыл бұрын
I suggest starting in the cloth stitches area (narrower turns). It is easier to hide threads' endings when you close the circuit. I bought my pillow because it was easier for me than to look for some hay to fill it, but it is quite easy to make it on your own. The stand I made by my own hands :)
