You could do a series and title them "The Molly Methods" where you instruct her doing different tasks in the bee yard and film them. She is a great asset for your business.

Some observations….. first, i remember the early days when i was sooooo excited to work bees. The excitement caused me to work fast. Not being a commercial beekeeper, i don’t need to work fast. But, i can see Molly was excited. That’s why she pulled frames up faster than she should as a newbie. But, at the same time, i can see her working at a commercial pace when her technique gets down. I love that excitement! She found a queen her first day out so that was really awesome and a good achievement! Lastly, i would not recommend tight jeans in the bee yard. Sometimes my wife will come out with me and have jeans like that and it never ends well lol.

Lol I thought the same thing when I seen those jeans, sometimes I have old thin jeans on and those girls seem to know it and I end up with a few extra stings in the legs.

My wife is a beekeeper as well and she insists on working in tight trousers. Even the working trousers we bought had to be tight. She knows very well that wider clothings mean less stings.

Great job Molly and magic that you spotted your first Queen. That never gets old. It's always a "YES" moment. Found 1 Queen, took 1 sting; I bet you will remember that Queen for a lot longer than that sting. You got some of the best beekeepers in the country willing to teach you so take full advantage of their combined knowledge. Its also wonderful to see knowledge being passed on with simple, clear, gentle instruction and advice. Bee clubs should be adding this to their must watch.

Molly would have lasted 2 mins in some of my bosses yards with those tight leg jeans. Molly if they didn't tell you or you didn't learn yet. It's recommended not to wear tight leg jeans.... unless you're doing apitherapy, lol Hope you didn't get stung to bad.

@@theohiohousewife oh my, bet that didn't feel good. We have one hive that are very protective and Smart. They know they can crawl up inside the bottom of the Jacket and at the sleeves. I got hit 15 times in 1 minute picking them up last year to bring them back from the field. I was splitting them 2 days ago and they crawled past the elastic at my sleeves. They are the only one I've found out of 400 hives that do that. But it keeps the day exciting, lol They stay in the hive if you smoke them pretty good first but you never remember which one they are until they do it.

Bob, I’ve been keeping bees for 10 years keeping about 10-20 hives depending on the year. I Learned some new things from this video as simple as it is. I work professionally as an accountant, and this reminds me so much of the experience I’ve been having lately training new staff. We often forget how many little tricks of the trade we’ve learned along the way. You don’t know the significance of these tricks until you train someone new. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your expertise. Always look forward to your videos.

Always wondered why no females in your crew! On my grandparents farm the women worked outside too. Back then they did not have the benefit of men's work clothes tho. My grandmother was a tough person. So my bees are walk in the park for me. No 200 lb lick tubs etc. Everything can be scaled down to fit the size of the worker. And yes those 90 to 100 pound boxes crammed with bees, brood and honey can be a pain. But for most part the only thing hard is keeping up.

Knowledge and Legacy are truly the only things we leave behind. Your wisdom and knowledge has been a blessing to more than you will probably ever realize. Having knowledge is one thing, but to share it, and hope others succeed in there endeavors, is awe inspiring. Not many commercial beekeepers share their wisdom and experience, but you Sir are the difference this industry needs. More beekeepers should share your values. I feel the wheels rolling in the more supportive direction. The next generation is the future of the craft. We thank you 🙏. I will help carry the torch.

I especially appreciate the efficiency tips and explanation of how you remove your frames in this video. I hadn't picked those up on my own from your other videos. I greatly appreciate your calm and kind manner, it also seems like you're good to your help, which i value highly, and believe that speaks volumes about you. If you're looking for video ideas, it might be nice to see how Seth is doing at growing his personal apiaries, assuming he is willing. Great job Molly. Bob wonderful job of instruction. Talking her through most of it. But stepping in and showing how when needed. Just a thought. Maybe for the first few times handling frames. Take out the first 2 frames. It leaves alot more room to remove the next frame . And definitely more room to shake and not hit frames on either side. And as confidence is built. Go back to only setting aside one. I usually set aside 2. But I'm a cluts.😊 Again Thanks for another wonderful video. And Molly. Just remember all those guys on the crew. Had a first day handling bees. So don't let them give you to much crap. Hope to see you in another video soon.

As @whoeverit said. " Great Job Miss Molly" pretty good teaching group to have. Spotting your first in Hive Queen is always magical and never gets old. Taking your first sting not as memorable as finding Queens. Learning anything new is always a process of small steps and you / we all go through the process in different ways. After a while it will be like the retail store you work through the job process with out even having to think what the next step is. When Bob Binnie and Ian Steppler use a very similar method of taking a split - it's probably a solid best practice.

hi bob i started beekeeping in 1965 working for bob mc donald, i think you will prefer this way if you give it a go, remove 2nd frame in first, its definetely easier most of the time, also when you then remove the wall comb you prise it over and don't damage comb or bees when you pull it up if it is attached to burr comb on wall of hive ...happy honey flow.
