Being from a developing country, I understand what you are saying. Struggles and hardship of a poor country can't be compared with that of a developed region(doesn't matter what your skin colour is).And this struggle makes you work harder to overcome these hardships. An immigrant in becoming top footballer in france can't be compared with a footballer growing in in west africa. When you grow yourself in struggling environment for a longer period of time, you carry that will to move forward and 'be better than anybody else' thinking for your whole life. I can't think of any better name other than Raphinha. Not the flashiest player, but you can see in his eyes. The amount of work he puts into each game day in, day out. And How can we forget Sadio Mane.

I had several friends who played for hamburg and werder bremen academies and they would tell me stories and anecdotes and i can say i know enough to say that youth football players now are extremely spoiled, they get massages everyday, whenever they play away games they stay at 5 star hotels, they get free boots and gear whenever they want, the club pays for absolutely everything, etc... and that's for hamburg and werder bremen, i can't imagine how it is in barca, madrid, bayern munich, etc...

It's called Adversity. It's hard times create strong men. Adversity is essential to anything worth doing. Builds character. Past generation were better back then and its not just nostalgia. But ofc there are also several other factors as well such as new football tactics sucking out the creativity of players etc

Just a fun fact back in the day before football as we knew it even existed, football was actually a name given to a lot of sports that were played by the feet and it was a peasant or a game of the common people, as nobles obviously played games on horses and the common people used their feet.

Which stories the people chooses to focus on has changed over the years. Here’s an example. A Luka Modric Interview from 17 years ago (from EduardoDS) highlighted “Modrić was born into an underprivileged family much affected by the Balkan conflict of the 1990s. Football gave him an escape route from poverty.” But in 2018, stories instead highlighted how his grandfather and caretaker was murdered, his home burned and his family forced to flee and become refugees. In 2025, it seems that the most popular narrative is how he was voted the worst signing when he joined Real Madrid and has, since then, proven himself. Three very different narratives. It’s still the same guy with the same life! But different eras have different things they focus on and resonate with. I’ll tell you, the story that really resonated with my mom and not so much the English-speaking fans was that Modric faced wolves as a 5 year old goat herder in the mountains. Perhaps focusing on finances and economic classes seems uncomfortable in 2025 and focusing on mentality and longevity seems unusual in 2007. Maybe the story about wolves is strange to people who never had to herd livestock and maybe in 2007 and in 2025, people didn’t know to connect or didn’t want to connect with a story of living in fear of bombs and violent ethnic persecution. 😢

Its kinda different many rag to riches footbal stories are around early 20s like in their early 20s only football players are rich but CEOs are mostly in their 40s or 50s or even 60s so they struggled most of their lives and mostly during periods when finance is very important for a human being like to support their family raise their children so I think CEOs stories are told because of that because it deserve more respect cause they struggled for most part of their life and mostly during the peak human period.

I mean... all this is on the marketing. CEOs market their life stories to gather attention and interest to their company. Now their stories are inspiring but they have other interests too. Point is if marketting agencies will just prioritize the "rags to riches" narrative then those stories will become popular too. It's just not that prevalent because they don't have much incentive.

Not financially secured mate. They usually house and feed the kids in la masía which takes a MASSIVE weight off parents shoulder AND brings the kids out from the difficult situation to where they won’t be exposed to it as much (but obviously they aren’t “set” at that point)

I know this is a controversial topic, and you might not make a video about it, but have you noticed that Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo fans tend to lean to the right supporting Trump and his views, while Barcelona and Messi fans usually oppose him and lean towards the left?
