I have suffered with this condition for a long time and developed my own set of exercises and stretches that helped me. It sounds counter intuitive but a foam roller under the affected area of the spine for 3 minutes twice a day, ending with 50 sit-ups with bent knee helped me the most. It took a long time, I had to work up gradually but eventually it led to total pain relief. Don’t give up, if an old guy like me at age 77 can do it, I know it’s possible.
@brucebat526Ай бұрын
What kind of foam roller exercises did you do?
@stanaltan1071Ай бұрын
The one I use is a half roll so it’s like a half of a full round roller. I got mine on Amazon. Work up gradually and do a little bit at a time to increase flexibility and strength.

A few days ago I had an xray that showed that I have "trace retrolisthesis of L1 on L2, L2 on L3, L3 on L4, L4 on L5 and L5 on S1 secondary to disc height loss." So I definitely need to get started on these exercises and techniques to try and make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Bob & Brad, I was diagnosed this week with mild degenerative disc disease at the L5-S1 level with approximately 2 millimeters of retrolisthesis of L5 on S1. My doctor said my case is mild however, the pain in my lumbar is very present regardless. The pain comes and goes frequently. I would say monthly. I really notice it if I stand or sit too long on any given day. When this happens I cannot bend. It's a real inconvenience as just about everything I do impacts that area. I'm just now learning about my treatment options and what I can do to prevent getting to the level where I would need surgery. Thank you for your video, this is a great starting point on the road to recovery ✌💚

@nicoledupont6439 I went to physical therapy for about 4 months. Afterward I continued to do the exercises they taught me everyday. I also did the exercises Bob and Brad recommended. My retrolisthesis went from 6 millimeters off to 2 millimeters within 1 year. Staying active helps. Stretches that elongate your spine is very important. Simply hanging from a bar works wonders. Yoga can be helpful as well.

Bridging from a bent knee, foot flat on the floor REALLY builds up the strength of the entire harmonious chain, from hamstrings through gluteals, lower and mid back. (I have a ball, which is excellent for many things, even just sitting and reading (light reading, as the quadriceps & hams do engage some of your attention. to enhance your attention skills, bounce while sitting as engaging the relevant muscles anywhere in your body has value - our brains exist for movement, and so the necessary attention to anything in motion makes you smarter!)

I know this is probably a long shot but I'm going to go ahead and ask this question. I was recently diagnosed with this in my low back. It makes sense in so many ways because when I flex my lumbar it feels a lot better. (Along with the X-ray and the physical therapist agreeing with the diagnosis. We don't know what level it is yet because there hasn't been an MRI) I fell l about 6 weeks ago, maybe that's what put my low back over the edge. I can't seem to sit still or find a position of comfort. My back doesn't hurt very much at all but when I lay down that's when all my trouble starts. I have a TENS unit I have medication I do the exercises I have a heating pad I'm doing physical therapy and this is horrific! I've never been in so much pain! I'm 60 and the first time I hurt my back I was 18 and I've had nothing but physical jobs until I was about 55. Now I am paying the price for sure! Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you please show some how to and exercises that help with your bath and deal with torn meniscus? I have two torn meniscus and watching you guys has so far helped me avoid surgery for over a year! However, I have lots of pain with my neck and back and have had it for years. Need proper information on picking up items and exercises to avoid irritation and core strengthening. Thank you

Apparently I have retrolisthesis c5-c6 (only had a neck scan) but then I have anterolisthesis c6-c7. Is there anything I can do having slips in the opposite direction so close together on the neck? I also have prominent degenerative disc disease, endplate sclerosis, and osteophyte formation.

Question is how can we know what grade we’re at? The doctors never told me anything. If I share my X-ray can u guys tell? Pls. 🙏

I have S1-L1, Grade 1 retrolisthesis. Doctors are kind of non committal about my exercise of choice with this, which is strength training. You guys have opinions about that? By the way, great video!

Hello, I was referred to therapy for cervical retrolisthesis, with arthritis. But they hadn't seen my lumbar x-ray yet, with spondylosis, and retrolisthesis. Is this normal practice?

You better tell them! They may make you do things that you shouldn't be doing!

My daughter has had surgery for this, when it became so difficult that she could not operate the gas pedal in her car. It did not end well and had to have a second. Oddly enough I have spondelolisthesis.

If you dont mind me asking what grade was her retro when the pain became unbearable and surgery was the only option? I have grade 1 and sometimes when Im driving for long i start to feel the pain. Also was her surgery covered by insurance? Apologies for all these questions...Im just trying to prepare myself in case it gets to the point where surgery is my only option. Its a painful ride. :(

Does it cause her right leg to hurt while she is driving? I know it does mine along with pain down my leg and behind my right knee
@eileenmurphy20193 жыл бұрын
@@cynthiaurugutia736 I don't know the grade but it must have been severe. While the surgery went well she had complications a few years later. She was/is very athletically inclined and some how managed to snap a screw. She had a 2nd surgery and fine now.
