When I had spine problem it took 6 mths for doctors to take me seriously. They weren't happy that they have to sent me to do mri.. I cried for all that time. After 2 mths mri.. They said 'oh yeah, it looks bad.' same for my ankle torn ligament. That took a year! 'yeah, it looks bad.' doctors are unreliable.

At the age of 32 I had a ruptured disc resulting in Cauda Equina Syndrome in 2003. Spent several months in therapy learning to walk again and had to use a catheter for 9 months. I’ve been pain-free for 15 years following my emergency surgery. There’s residual weakness and numbness in my calves and feet but I considered myself fully cured when I was able to stop using the catheter.

I'd thought I'd share my experiences as a warning. I had back pain, which got progressively worse. Eventually my physio persuaded her me to get an MRI scan which showed back degredation. Subsequently, Drs diagnosed myeloma from a blood test. So if symptoms are getting progressively worse, it is possible that you may have myeloma which can be detected with a simple blood test. Thoroughly amused at the “go to urgent care” comment. I have numbness in my groin, down my leg/shin. Went to the ER and was sent packing after a shot of muscle relaxer. It has been 3 weeks now and i’m still about 2 weeks out from getting my MR scans done. Add another few days to a week to get back into the doctor after that. You get the picture. Meanwhile, walking is becoming harder and harder. Sleep is near impossible, dorsiflexion is paralyzed and life sucks. Here’s hoping I don’t have permanent nerve damage by the time somebody actually helps me instead of peddling referrals and prescriptions.

So 10/10 excruciating pain especially when I try to stand up. The pain is worse when I'm up and my legs try to buckle at the knee. I've always had back pain but this is beyond any pain I've ever felt. Hi Bob and Brad I'm a 50 year old male who since 2014 has had a problem and lower back pain. I work Polishing marble floors that include a twisting motion since 2007 and for 5 year before this I worked in a factory lifting marble and granite 8 hours a day. 4 days ago I was in my kitchen on my knees sorting my tool box out for tools I needed to do a job and I simply bent forward and my left side of my lower back went into spasm and for a couple of days I was in extreme pain and now as I write this I am better but my back went out so easily. Should I see a back specialist to check me out? I did go to the ER room and the doctor said that I should give up my job. He prescribed pain and anti inflammation medication but this has happened a few times since 2014. I take extreme caution when I'm working Polishing floors but when I'm working I'm constantly twisting my back from left to right.. What should I do? I can't quit my job but I'm not getting any younger and when I'm in bed and if I move a certain way my back goes into spasm. Any advice would be most welcome and appreciated

Had Cauda Equina about a year ago. Had been in agonising pain for months got off sofa and my leg pain got a lot worse despite my leg feeling a little numb at the same point. Following morning went to the hospital as saddle region was also numb. Everthing was so numb I was no longer in pain so that was a bonus. I was using a zimmer frame to walk by end of the day. Three days later I was operated on (would have been that day but hospital looked at old mri). Luckily for me and the hospital given the mistake over 6 months I regained full usage of everthing but took lots of physio. Only slight different is a spot of numbness on one leg. So glad I recognised the symptoms and went straight to the hospital even if thier mistake did not help. The scary bit was when I eventual got surgery and he read the detail for consent he said you probably won't regain function you have currently lost, glad he was wrong.

I had cauda equina and the symptoms I had were slightly different I stopped passing urine and had pain coming round into my pelvis, groin and down the front of my thigh. My Dr told me I had a urine infection! Went on holiday, came back early, saw a different Dr and was rushed to the SGH in Glasgow for emergency surgery. I was 27 and I've been left with permanent nerve damage on my right side. If I hadn't been so ill, I would have taken her to court for negligence. Same with disability, I was refused it because according to someone who worked in an office my condition would get better. By the time I was 38 I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and have used a cane since. I recently found out that I have in my cervical spine, reduced lordosis, c5/6 and c6/7 have degenerative changes. Retrolosthesis at l5/s1. L3/l4, l4/l5 and l5/s1 bulging discs, severe spinal stenosis at l5/s1 and bulging discs in my thoracic spine. That was all there in my scan from 5 years ago when they diagnosed the stenosis but never told me about the other signs of degeneration. I have very little faith in the medical profession here in the Scotland. I found these things out from a trauma specialist! I'm so thankful for the exercises that you put up, between them, my yoga and my massages I just manage to get out a couple of days a week for a wee while!

My boyfriend is 37 years old and has been experiencing horrible mid back pain lately that seems to be the worst first thing in the morning. He wakes up in the morning hardly able to breathe due to the amount of pain. He tells me that he has to get up because it hurts so bad. It does continue to bother him throughout the day but seems to be the worst in the mornings. There are nights that he doesn't even want to go to bed because he knows he is going to wake up the next morning in pain. It is really starting to worry me.

Currently going through this. This is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. Nonstop shooting pain down my right leg, the pain wraps around my calf. Night time is the worst. I’ve gone to my doctor 3 times within 2weeks the first time they prescribed steroids by mouth and a nerve med to take at night which didn’t nothing for me. I went back again and they gave me a injection in my butt cheek which didn’t nothing. I went back the other day and they gave me muscle relaxers and referred me to physical therapy and physical medicine. Aug 24 physical medicine and Aug. 26 physical therapy start for me. Wish me luck as i lay here in pain typing.

Mckenzie method helped alot more with the pain than all the meds I was given. I stopped Gabapentin bc it gave me vertigo, which made everything worst. Plus it didn't help one bit. Every other med prescribed did nothing (except the opium) helped with pain. I also tried cupping, because my legs were feeling hard and stiff, it helped with the hardness. Probably because it allowed more blood circulation. But cupping hurted like a mofo. One person told me acupuncture helped them alot, but I have not tried it.

Mine is running down my left leg, I have an appointment with pain management on the 14th. Pain got so bad I called 911, they were honest with me, they said because my vitals were so good the ER would sit me in waiting area, (sitting is worse), so then we did a tele health and we spoke with a nurse and doctor, from the questions they asked me, they advised I try and make it to my pain management appt because they're the only ones that will provide pain meds that's going to be strong enough to help me. If it gets worse to call them back. Opioid pandemic casual users have really put real pain patients through hell, my thing is if the doctors are being so controlled with denying pain meds, where the heck are the street users getting it from 🤔. I just want to be healed and not jump on the opioid addict train while in treatment. Thank you two, I've enjoyed your channel for years. 😊

@YOUNGNGRATEFUL
@YOUNGNGRATEFUL Жыл бұрын
@@Preeti-lw9jcyes. Come to find out I had multiple levels of fractures of my spine. Apparently if you have the symptoms I identified above - 4 months of having those symptoms is the MAX you can have before becoming paralyzed and/or having permanent nerve damage. In case, I got very scared so I had to contact local surgeons and they directed me to the Emergency Room. They believed it was as serious as I described it. After some scans, I was scheduled for surgery the next morning - which turned out to be around 12 hours. I required a 6 level fusion of my T6-T12. I also have a disease where the bone grows into the spinal cord. The surgeon removed enough bone so that it buys me more time before there is an issue of compression from new bone growth. So, it may grow or may not. But he did remove some extra bone from the inner vertebrae to be safe. It’s now month 5 and I’m just starting to become able to use JUST a walker, whereas I needed a wheelchair solely this entire time - you lose stability and muscle strength during recovery. The recover is tedious and not one you can do alone. My wife had to wipe my butt and still does sometimes because twisting causes really painful cramps of my ribs and upper body. I use a shower chair because of the numbness in my feet that hasn’t 100% gone away, etc. I also broke my leg previous to the spine surgery, which complicates my balance and my pain levels/discomfort levels are different. What I can say for sure is, numbness in any form, the urge you can’t hold pee or poop, and your body releases….followed by weakness in the legs… you will likely 100% need surgery. It’s an emergency. I caught my issue early enough, but I was also misdiagnosed by another spine surgeon which is why my operation and understanding of my spinal compression was delayed, always get a second opinion! A neurologist and MRI scan is what saved me. I hope this helps you in anyway.

It like, not couda equina? Take some Tylenol. I exaggerate because that happened and another might just go home and suffer, I did for a day but the pain was giving me darker thoughts and I thought F this. after making some noise I will be seeing a Utogynocologist/Surgeon -pudendal nerve? On my wedding day I bent over to grab my shoes and put them on and I felt something similar to what I would call a rubber band snap, happen in my lower back followed by extreme severe pain. I could not stand up straight. It was a stiff feeling. Like I would try to stand up straight but something happened that stopped me from being able to , in the form of extreme pain. All movements were very painful. I was bed ridden for a few days to a week then I went back to work but I had severe pain when I stood up and I had to shift from hip to hip constantly for relief. Needless to say went for an mri and on the report they declared I needed immediate treatment and the back surgeon said i needed immediate surgery. My disc had exploded and I had fragments embedded in something I can’t remember name he said. Had surgery on my l5 and I have had pain ever since and that was 9 years ago but now something has happened again and I’m having pain in lower back where it goes to my outside hips and I can’t move my legs sometimes as if it’s locked up. I went to the doctor for 2 of these my ortho didn't touch me or test anything sent me for mri. Insurance denied mri until 6 weeks of physical therapy even though they have no clue if it will injure me further. At a loss in pain 24/7. Trying a chiropractor this week hoping for relief.

Can you recommend the first step? What type of doctor to see? My pcp would immediately tell me to lose weight, exercise and probably prescribe pain pills which is not what I’m wanting.

After this video I found my leg pain also coincided with the inability to stand on my left tiptoe. I was shocked when my heel hit the floor. I contacted my doctor and had an appointment that day and was examined. Sent to emergency senior physiotherapist who diagnosed radiculopathy from lower disc herniation. She seemed hopefull I would get the ability to regain the strength and feeling down the back of the leg again but apart from exercises, I'm basically left to it. I am worried! Being given a non urgent MRI (because I begged for one). But they said it wouldn't be of much use 😥

How are you right now? Are you cured?

@@assassings3030 Yes! I am almost completely recovered, just some mild weakness to the affected leg. It took a long time, but I slowly got my sensation back and then after many months of hard work, I slowly regained the ability go on my tiptoes. I can now walk on my tiptoes again, but it was a long, painful process to recovery.

@@llphoto5804 Happy to hear that you recovered. Exactly how much time did it take?!

@@assassings3030 Thank you 😊I would say about a year. With the vast majority of recovery happening in the last couple of months. My longest standing issue was the loss of motor function. Thankfully, that's recovered now. I basically worked on raising onto tiptoes at any chance I could. I had to support my upper body a great deal. A pool is good for this. At times I wondered if I was wasting my time, and then one day, it worked for just a second. I was so excited! And as the weeks went on it just came back from there. I hope you are well.

@@llphoto5804 Nice, I actually did heavy squats and felt some strain in my lower back, I waited for a month and realised that the weakness has reduced but it was not going completely and everyday in the evening I felt some pain and strain in the back, I was lucky that the problem was not with the bone, I just damaged one of my nerves and It was pinching, still it is making me mad but It is not that much now, I hope that it disappears soon. Just pray for me

I hate that numbness feeling. I have osteoarthritis with bulging disk stenosis and ederma putting pressure on my sciatica nerve. The Doctor has recommended shots in my spine. I'm assuming there is no surgery to fix it
