@@ethan24knights30 because he is WHITE. That word was used by white people in a derogatory way against black people for years. I don’t think anyone should be saying the word, but it’s completely inexcusable for white people to be using it knowing the history of it. Anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the last 50 years knows this. Like it or not, black people have changed the meaning of the word among themselves. Yes there is a double standard, but that’s the reality of it and I don’t really see this changing. Same way some women call each other b*tches, but would have a huge issue with a man using that word to them. My question is, why do you feel it’s okay to use the word just because other people are “allowed” to use it among themselves?

Yup, indeed. The outlaw's would have been completely obliterated if they were up and coming these days. Waylon, Willie, Chris, George Jones, Johnny Cash.... and many more. Has anyone seen the videos of George Jones drunk and getting arrested? I'm not saying he is as good as they are/were, but damn.. they weren't angels and never claimed to be. Folks were more interested in these performers because they were outlaws. The Country back then just let people live and if they didn't like something they personally would steer clear of them. They didn't insist on cancelling any of the rebels. This kid isn't even a rebel, and he got basically crucified in public. I don't like certain rap, soo I just steer clear of it. I don't condone any of his language, but, to ruin his life because of this, is definitely wrong. If you're going to hold him accountable, then, every record company that has signed a rap group, needs to do the same. Their (Rap artist) music is full of the "n" word. This is getting so ridiculous, and the neighbors should be proud of themselves for ruining someone's life. What you do to others will always come back to you. 🤔

I'll quote a friend - "This really isn't very hard. Your ancestors--and for some of us very recently--used a slur against folk with a different skin color or sexual identity because it was acceptable at the time to see those folk as lesser humans. Things changed, language evolved, and it became socially unacceptable to use that slur. We *started* to take societal equality seriously. Suddenly, the word you, your friends, and ancestors used to make someone feel lesser couldn't be used without people thinking the same about you. It doesn't matter whether you think it was fair. You're not supposed to make people feel lesser. It doesn't matter who else uses it or what people group reclaimed it. Because you're not supposed to make people feel lesser. It doesn't matter whether you meant it or not. You're not supposed to make people feel lesser. And if your language tears someone else down--and they get to decide that, not you--it's ok, respectable, and preferred for you to change your language. It's ok for you to be inconvenienced for someone else's safety. Because you're not supposed to make someone feel lesser."

But you can’t be that level of laid out red carpet and adored by millions and be insensitive to a lot of people who are either new to country music or accepting you into the pop space. When you get asked to perform on Saturday night live twice? You can’t be bringing your backwoods ways front and center. You know it’s controversial and Usher is the one who got your name out there first! It’s disrespectful! I get it. It wasn’t meant for everyone to hear but when you’re new to it all, you have to watch what you say. Now I hope he can teach the people like you some respect. If you’re American, it disrespects American history. Black people are apart of this country and that word has already had a war from it once. You’re disrespectful to the people that died to see us strive for a better life. And even NWA has profited off that word to show change in society. As a white person, you want to be cool that bad? To be apart of the hard R part or the Hard A part? You don’t have enough pride in your own life that you want to be apart of the the black culture? Sounds like an identity crisis. We made the word so cool that people want to use it how we use it without the ancestral beatings and dehumanization to get there. Without turning the anger from it into a positive thing... similar to gay and Bitch... they’re not the derogatory things they were originally used for. So now you just want to be a gaay, bittchh, nigha? Okay... go for it. All to be apart of something cool... 🐑 🐑 🐑.

@@Mursedave it’s that understanding that makes you lost. It’s a global world now. I don’t go around calling myself cracker so I can’t relate. I can accept nigga because we got historical ties to the word. The word was beaten into my family generationally. What is your right of passage? We don’t get money for it. It’s just something we say to commonize a word that had historically suffrage behind it. So when you say it now, it doesn’t really mean what it originally was meant to mean. To the effect that saying “pussy ass Nig” in the way Morgan said it was totally hip hop fan boy. But he shouldn’t be saying it. It’s not hypocritical. It’s just bad taste. White people do shit to cause a scene but not always billy bad ass enough to back up the behavior they start. This is a prime example. Even his momma would call him an idiot.

That's kind of beside the point. NO other genre is really held accountable for thier actual content. I mean the misogyny, pimping, death threats in other rappers....drug use...human trafficking... criminal records...let alone the word. Country has to be half ass disney....yet still discriminates against christian music....they are the only genre that seems to hate thier own fans.

It’s not that we care about what one person says.. it’s that a leader with that much power in his voice is normalizing that. Again. Broken record. Your mom is your mom. But she’s not my mom. I can’t say that without some form of disrespect to you. So proper usage of a word and who can say what isn’t new to society. If you can figure that part out, why do you even want to say a word that has such a horrible tie to it. It’s a family usage thing. Just like mom. If you call your dad, daddy, it meant some thing. If you call some other man daddy... it means another. Let’s not act dumb to the offense here! 🤯
