I was amazed at how engaged he was at every level including motivating players during the game, checking on injured players, and calling the plays.

Great documantary. Great Coach. Great Christian. I met coach Bowden 3 years later in1989 when I was a 24 year old football coach from Germany. He invited me to FSU and spent time with the team and staff (Jim Gladden, Mickey Andrews, Chuck Amato, etc.). I learned so much, as a coach but even more as a man. Coach Bowden, thank you so much

Watching for the first time, few days after Coach Bowden’s passing. His primary focus seems to center around the motivation and support of the players and, of course, winning the dadgum ball game. He’s a true father figure, instills values, cares about his players and never says anything worse that “dadgum”. For parents, they would have wanted their son to be taught life lessons from Coach Bowden. It’s obvious how important that is and must have been a major reason for Florida States rise to prominence under Coach Bowden’s leadership. I imagine it’s that you would have wanted this wonderful man to look after and nurture your son and the player wanted the same. That’s why you see so much goodness and kindness from FSU players from Coach Bowden’s time, Charlie Ward and Warrick Dunn really come to mind. They are people of extremely high character and so good attracts good, seems to be largely about values and people that share those would have wanted to play for Coach Bowden. This is coming from a Gator. Everybody will miss Coach Bowden, as he is beloved by every College Football fan. It’s personally sad, as he was an important figure when I was young as we played FSU every year and that was about the most exciting day of my year, every year, for 20 years or more. This video is a must for every football fan as you see what college football is all about from the inside. This is a treasure.

You are right about that if he only had five plays go his way he would have tied the Bear probably would have passed him and what he did to FSU no coach alive or dead has ever done he's a legend and will truly be missed

I watched this Documentary yesterday after Bowden's passing. I've grown up on Florida State Football during the 90s but I always find myself watching old Videos when the program was being built from the ground up and seeing Coach Bowden......actually being a Coach. Running the Offense, setting up Trick plays, seeing the fusteration on his face after a crushing loss, Arguing with Referees, being flabbergasted on trying to find a player on the sidelines, and gracious with his players in the Locker Room. Win or lose Surreal to see watching it with my younger brother (Who pointed out that State Trooper Billy Smith was by his Side even during the 80s) And Interesting to see the man and program both as up and comers, before the Program had arrived as a Power and the Coach becoming the Figurehead when I watched the program as a kid in the 90s. Always nice to see this programs orgins. And the Coach who was simply 1 of a kind Rest in Peace Robert Clecker Bowden. Forever my Coach ❤🏈🌷

I’m with you. I started watching FSU football in 1988 when I was 11, and knew nothing about FSU or college football prior to that. Like you, I love going back and watching old videos and game footage from the days before I became a fan, as well as the first few years of my watching and attending the games. It seemed like a magical time.

My first year at Tallahassee as a student my junior year in 1976. I would sit on the bridge overlooking the stadium and watch the home games . I believe it was called the Appalachian Parkway. That was before the stadium was closed in . Great memories !!! Thank you Bobby !!!!!

Florida State we got to get another Bobby Bowden you know we got a good motivational speaker but far as having a Bobby Bowden we don't have another Bobby about we got to have a coach that never says quit knows what it'll take to win a game when you are down in a game. Pumping the guys up when they are down we got to have that.

From these clips you can tell just how incompetent Brad Scott was. Had to be told and explained about the kickoff with or against the win, calls not being communicated properly. It's not wonder he failed MISERABLY when made the HC at South Carolina. Didnt win a single game one season. Awful.
