Amazing album. It’s becoming one of favorites of all time. The way he creates a world with the sounds, his voice and the story. To sing with that kind of feeling and accuracy in the phrasing is incredibly difficult. It’s got to be a labor of deep spiritual love.

I saw Bobby Brown perform at the Goleta Swap Meet in '83 or '84. His instrument (or collection of instruments) resembled an enormous loom. He was selling lps out of his van. I always regretted not buying one.

I met Bobby Brown when he played this stuff at Cal State Fullerton in 1972 or 73. I still have a vinyl copy of this album. It has some surface noise, but it's listenable. I wonder if it's worth anything?

Early synthesizer stuff - I'm sure this was trend setting at the time. Too bad he didn't have the vocal processing equipment of today: more harmonies and top end would have improved the appeal for the masses. Obviously a self taught musician. A lot of this is simple stuff, but none of this doesn't mean it isn't entertaining. Best heard on headphones so you can appreciate some of the 'layers'.

What's crazy is there's no synths , some resonate pickups. At 2:27 there is an image of the description of his rig from the album artwork. This is mostly done live in a one man band format on a homemade rig.
