I have certainly enjoyed and love my generation. I'll be 73 on February 7th; still this song pulls at my heart strings. Tonight I dedicate it to my true dream lover who is so very far away. Marcus Fred you are and will always be my dream lover until the last of my generation has moved on. Happy to know that generations now and future generations after me will get to enjoy this beautiful love ballad.

Some times, for no understandable reason, a just plain average guy like me sees that dream lover. She is the most beautiful girl ever. And he risks it all and goes up to her and says hi. Married 45 years next week. She is still my dream lover and the most beautiful 74 year old girl ever. We both love Bobby and his music. What a blessed man I am.

I met my girl, my dream when I was 27 and she 29, we married after just four months. Has 45 years of marriage always been easy? No. But Our Lord blessed us with each other and a strong love and commitment to He and each other. So do you still have time? Yes lots, pray for Gods guidance.@@onepieceguy2659

Ashley Pulido Mack the knife, Book of love, Duke of earl, I wonder why by Dion and the Belmonts. These are just a few that I can still remember right now. The music ranged from the late 50s to about 1963. I wonder now where that cassette ended up. I bet it was still in one of my old cars when it got crushed.

This song takes me back to a simpler time. Bobby Darin's smooth voice and catchy melody are just as enchanting now as they were when "Dream Lover" was first released. It's amazing to think that over six decades later, this song still has the power to captivate and inspire. Let's keep the love for this classic tune alive! ❤

I was born in 1950, a perfect time for music. In my life we had all the 50’s groups, Bobby Darin, Elvis, then I was a teen with the Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys , Petula Clark and Leslie Gore, Simon and Garfunkel, all the British pop groups, then late teens-20’s, we had the Doors, Led Zeppelin, then Elton John and on and on, not to mention all the heavy rock of the sixties, seventies, I could go on forever , R & B, Ray Charles, Aretha …. Then the fun disco stuff from the 80’s. I think my time caught it all, country western, Motown, rock, top 40s. I feel so lucky…

One of my favorite quotes of all time, by Neil Young:"I used to be pissed off at Bobby Darin because he changed styles so much (rock n roll, country, swing, jazz, show tunes, folk, easy listening, spirituals, ballads, protest songs, blues, film scores). Now I look at him and think he was a darn genius.Mack the Knife was cool. But it was almost a distraction, cause it was such a radical change and you were goin: Hey wait a minute. This is really good, but who is this now- is this the same guy? What the hell just happened?That's the first artist I can remember where you're goin...Well, shit - he just changed. He's completely different. And he's really into it. Doesn't sound like he's not there.Dream Lover, Simple Song Of Freedom, Queen of the Hop, Splish Splash - tell me about those records, Mr. Darin. Did you write those all the same day? He just changed so much. Just kinda went from one place to another. Completely different sounds. So it's hard to tell who Bobby Darin really was."

My family left Arkansas in 1952 and moved to central California. Every summer, when school let out for the next ten years we returned to visit our Arkansas family. I remember sitting on a cousin's twin bed one hot, muggy afternoon, surrounded by a dozen or more male cousins--listening as "Dream Lover" played over-and-over on the record player. Swooning as we listened to every word, we talked of girls, cars, and our favorite songs. To this day, when I hear this song, I am taken back to that day in Osceola, Arkansas, when life was simple, the promise of love sweet; when every boy dreamed of one day finding that "Dream Lover."

But one of her all time favorite songs to dance off of is The O'Jays Get On Out And Party from their Identify Yourself album. He HAD the Dream Lover of the 20th Century, Alexandra Zuck! She is better known to moviegoers of the 1950s as Sandra Dee! They were the storybook couple who married in the early 1960s, had one son, and divorced. He was so wrapped up in his own life, and too immature to realize and deal with the fact that she had a mental illness, suffering from major depressive disorder from being molested/sexually assaulted/raped repeatedly by her stepfather. One must realize that at that time, teenage girls would not be encouraged to speak out or come forward, but in fact suppress such a traumatic event. She was a model at age 13 prior to becoming a movie actress. She was very popular and had a large following who loved her movies, myself included although I was not a teenager at that time. This depression for her lead to alcoholism. As such she could no longer work as an actress. She became a recluse, had episodes in and out of hospitals until she died. Bobby Darin had a short lived movie and singing career as he fied in his early 30s. Such a tragedy for two people who had it all!

I hate the stereotype that 50's/60's music is "for old people." As someone born in 1989 and a fan of rap r&b rock and everything in between I won't hesitate to say this song is one of my all time favorites. Simple but amazing. Catchy feel good music doesn't discriminate on age :)
@miguelhovich699
@miguelhovich699 9 жыл бұрын
Taken as a whole, I get it. But this record is anything but "simple." There's a lot going on here. The slightly dissonant high pitched piano notes right at the intro for one. Multiple key changes for two. A lot of inspiration, thought and aural imagination went into the production of this record. Listen to the background, the various instrumental and vocal sounds upon which Bobby Darrin's voice floats.

Yes. Bobby Darin was the most talented musical artist to come out of the 1950s. He could do everything, and act, too.

TheQueenofHibernia Yes::::yes::::yes:::: there is no greater love, than God's love for the world:: The gospel or good news has not changed:: Jesus died for all of us on a cross, was buried, and was raised from the dead after three days. His Love is simply:::A:W:E:S:O:M:E:::

jim donnelly Why did god command the murder of people his tribe invaded, and the rape of their daughters? Doesnt sound very loving to me
@jimdonnelly9220
@jimdonnelly9220 10 жыл бұрын
radelta For God is LOVE:: this is his nature::He also can be provoked to anger as did his own people thousands of years ago as they disobeyed him several times and worshiped idols of gold, etc. which are man made and mean absolutely nothing. He also warned them what would happen if they turned away from him. He is not into rape, man's own sins lead to murder, rape etc. as you can see by jihad, and other people on the earth. The Lord sent his Son into the world to save it, not to condemn the human race. As you can see, the world is in a mess today, and the only answer is Jesus Christ.

I’m 13 and I absolutely love 50’s and 60’s songs. I always get laughed at at school because the other kids think I’m ‘outdated’ and ‘old fashioned’, and it always gets me down however as soon as I get home I put on my favourite song (this one) and soon after, I feel much better. 60’s songs have gotten me though some of the hardest years of my life so far. I am so thankful that music like this was created, it’s a true blessing to this earth.
