I'm glad I went through every single film in Al's filmography because I really liked this film and other underrated gems.

An underrated film, a neglected but brilliant Pacino performance, a lyrical, even magical Grusin score. I've seen the film a dozen times and see something new each time I watch it. Hard to believe this wasn't among the Oscar nominations of 1977, especially for Al and for Dave Grusin.
@graceantonio35735 жыл бұрын
Not surprising, true to hollywood style the Academy awards' a sham half the time, as early as the times of Bette Davis to Julie Andrews to Denzel Washington etc. Poor Oscar, he's nude = indecent 😄aha😀ha😁ha!

I've watched it also a dozen times, even went up to Leukerbad to see the place and it's really eerie up there... feel the vibe of the movie

Agreed on all points. Especially when you really look at the other nominees that year. Woody Allen ...? Wha?

I saw it bought the LP. It was wonderful. The Academy falls short at times. This was one of those moments.

I "discovered" and started loving Al Pacino in this movie 41 years ago today -- too young to watch The Godfather movies when they were released. So glad I finally found this beautiful, haunting soundtrack by Dave Grusin. Took me back all those years ago. Dave's music complemented Al's acting genius also in ... And Justice For All and in Author! Author! I should watch Bobby again soon...loved it then, surely will again. Thanks for this.

a shame this was never re-released, Dave Grusin is such a profilic composer (The Yakuza, Havana, etc.) and musician. So: WHY? (Needless to say, this soundtrack is pure magic in every sense.)

I totally agree! Grusin also scored the Pacino movies AND JUSTICE FOR ALL and AUTHOR! AUTHOR! what a great Trilogy of Grusin Scores for Pacino!

St Xa, and what's more, the movie is incredibly under-rated. The music fit this movie perfectly. The scenery, acting, directing, story, and music fit like a glove.

With all the film score reissue labels (Intrada, La-La Land, Kritzerland, etc.) I was really hoping this would eventualy get a deluxe first-time-on-CD reissue but it doesn't look promising. At least not in my lifetime. And after my generation is gone it's probably even unlikelier. Guess I'll have to settle for that old Casablanca LP ... complete with Pacino poster (although I always thought it should have included Marthe Keller as well).

Al Pacino is better than Robert De Niro coz his range of acting ability is so wide & multi dimensional. Shallow hollywood jus favors the tall or the lighter skinned face, thats all. De Niro was great in Godfather 2 & Raging Bull but the rest of his movies his performance is 2D compared to Pacino's performance in varied movie roles he has played. Just the eloquence of Pacino's eyes alone, & take note his face too (compared to De Niro's) when Pacino's acting, he's truly brilliant. In Bobby Deerfield, Pacino's subdued but strong presence proves his deep & dimensional ability. Lee Strassbourg said it: "other actors inhabit the character, Al becomes the character." In other words, he IS the character in his role, you believe he is that person & can never be anyone but him as that person in the story/play/movie. Brilliant beyond imagination.

This is music from the 1977 Al Pacino Movie BOBBY DEERFIELD. The soundtrack, which is a collection of music used in the movie. Composed by Dave Grusin. The first piece of music you hear is the Main Theme / Main Title music for BOBBY DEERFIELD that plays at the start of the movie.
