Good Evening Metalheads. Welcome to METAL MARCH!!!
In this edition of the podcast Vernomatic and Metal Walt interview Bobby Gustafson ex Guitarist of OVERKILL.
We get the low down on what he is up to as of March 2023, how the break from VIO-LENCE came about and the roots of the name SATAN's TAINT.

If it wasn't for Bobby, Overkill would never have been, this man is literally a song writing genus, and a damn good guitar player. Bobby, you are one of the main reasons I started playing guitar in 1991. it would be an honor to someday meet the man who helped define Thrash from its core. \m/

Overkill is one of my fav bands, I loved The years of Decay and Under the influence, two of my fav metal albums of all time. Drunken Wisdom was so influential on me at that time, that crunchy guitar and massive bass sound is what I wanted to sound like playing metal. Loved hearing Bobby's point of view.

Bobby is THE Overkill-guitarist....he does the unique sound that defines Overkill besides Blitz' vocals. After he left, Overkill lost 50% of their idendity. The first 4 albums are untouchable...legendary.

I agree on Bobby establishing that sound in the formative years of overkill. I do also agree that the band has moved forward in a direction that is still solid illustrated by the release of their killer new album scorched. The band is a formula and they've gained long-term success but Bobby overkill era is still the best and will always be the best.

@@metalmayhemroc1851 Yup....Overkill supporting Slayer on their South of Heaven-Tour 89 was my first concert ever. Still happy to saw them in that line up. Next time i saw em was at the Horrorscope-Tour. Last time i saw em was the Killfest-Tour with Destruction + Flotsam & Jetsam in 2019 overhere. Appreciate their hard work, but guitarwise they eversince sound good, but exchangeable. Too much good teenage memories from "Taking Over" on. Gustafson rules! Cheers from Berlin/Germany 🍻

Vio-lence needs to call it quits. Perry left, Bobby left and Phil is all over the place with various bands. I was interested in seeing Vio-lence 2.0, but now it has devolved into 3.0, 4.0 and now 5.0. Unbelievable. What is this band? Megadeth in the 2000’s??

People feel the need all the time to say things, to express opinions, to compare musicians, music, etc., etc., which if constructive is kinda good, albeit useless. These things belong to the past, more than three decades goddammit! Life went on, Overkill carried on. Arguably Bobby G gave Overkill this unique guitar sound we all know and love. Yet musically speaking, without him Overkill handled it way better than he did after parting ways with the band.

Why is Bobby Gustafson on a channel with only 230 subs? Anyway Bobby is one of my favorite guitar players and was way too good to be in a band like Violence who is awful, mostly the vocals. Phil Demmel is also taking every gig he can, even playing with Overkill, so there was no way financially that it could work for him..
