Back story on ikon and Bobby. They started out strong. Winning so many awards, but YG started them on dome tours and kept them in Japan for 2 yrs just doing concerts after concerts while participating in another survival show in China. Bobby won SMTM as a trainee and YG didn’t capitalized on it. He finally got to release his first solo 2 yrs later with zero promotion because he was on tour with iKON and doing a survival show in China. They finally were able to come back to Korea after fans threaten to boycott YG. They released LS and won a bunch of awards and then the scandal happened and their leader left. They finally left YG last year with all their rights and name. They’re now happy and free! Bobby is one of the rarity idol rapper that is well respected in the khiphop community. He and iKON have a lot of fan boys. Lol.

Bobby is amazing as a rapper, it's a pity the subtitles are not available yet. It's reasonable that you feel American influence because he actually lived in America as a kid and kendrick Lamar is one of his rap influences. I think he started rapping when he was 14-15 and then he went solo to Korea to become an idol and won Show Me The Money before he debuted, T.O.P loved him in his trainees days. I don't know if you know what Show Me The Money is, but it's a brutal rap competition in Korea where rappers mostly recognized in the underground scene face off and choose the best rapper. In the khh scene they don't recognize idols, they are not accepted even if they are trainees, they look down on them because they don't think they have rap skills except bigbang lol, but Bobby was a trainee when he won that show and is the only idol to win so far. [Fun fact: Before this show existed, there was a radio version from this and T.O.P won the radio version before he thought of being an idol]. On the 29th of this month his 3rd studio album comes out, I hope you can check it out, the concept is insane. You can start by checking out songs like F, Cherry Blossom, Drowning and Hercules, those are songs from this album that already came out months ago as singles or mini albums and all 4 songs are completely different genres. Yeah he wasnt fooling me at all. I have never heard a rapper sound like this and came from korea. Not that their arent great rappers in korea but more so you heard the season in his voice. TOP and BOBBY winning the shows only shows why they both are having a great career!

yes Bobby's energy is up there. ikon encore 2019 seoul concert is the closest big bang level energy from the other kpop group. it was so fun. and fyi, there's rap duo called MOBB, formed by Bobby and Mino from Winner. these two are hella good and you should check them out!!

He is that good, and yeah, when I first saw him in Show Me The Money 3, I was like, Dude, he is like an American rapper. I was never a fan of K-pop and had no idea about Korean hip-hop, but now I'm into Bobby, K-Hip Hop, and iKON, and that's how amazing they are. I was also amazed that you mentioned 2PAC and Kendrick Lamar. You were right; both artists contribute to influencing him. Bobby mentioned that during his interview. But I think Jay-Z is his number-one favorite. If you react to their songs and his solo stuff, you will find on his lyrics that he would sometimes put some of Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, and other rappers lyrics from their songs as a shoutout to them. His live performances and iKON's are also crazy. They are just damn amazing, period.
