Black barbershop?
@themidwestbarber84282 жыл бұрын
@@CloseYourBrownEyes I’m a white guy-but I cut in and around Columbia Mo. I would say the clientele is 60/40 white/black. I only make that distinction clear bc in one of Seguras podcasts, him and his wife talk about a white person getting compliments from a black person feels like it carries more weight than if that same compliment came from a “whitey” lol. But, to tie into that, I gave this white dude super clean skin fade with the razor lineup, the whole bit, he puts it in social media bc it was the first time this young dude had ever been in my chair. The next day he sends me a screenshot of one of his buddies who happens to be a black guy-he said, “damn-what black barbershop do you go to?” Which is when my client sent him a different picture that was taken about 30 mins prior to the final cut, it was a selfie he took while getting his hair cut that had me right behind him wearing almost a full gas mask respirator (we were literally in the first 2-3 weeks of Covid-right on the cusp of the whole world shutting down. But he responded basically with, “nah man, he’s a white dude”. And as for a white barber, for any black guy to compliment on how he can fade-literally, there isn’t a higher compliment in any fashion that anyone else could say about my game that can top it. So the black dudes response just confirmed to me that I was doing something right. He said “Damn famm-Ni***z cold with them clippers”. I knew right then that I had reached the summit-the compliments couldn’t ever get any better than that-I’ve just had to work like a mfr to keep it there. With all that said-I have a number of black dudes and those dudes have typically laughed the hardest at Bobby Lee.. 😂 Sorry to write a novel in just answering your question man.

I've following Bobby's career for decades since before I was a doctor. I was an EMT when I first saw him and I used to think his trauma stories were funny because I lacked the expirience to recognize the signs of trauma. I can still appreciate his timing and his art but when he tells stories Bout growing up I can see past his pain and the thousand yard stare that comes and goes. He is good at covering it up with a punchline which snaps him out of it but he goes right back. This was particularly evident in the story about his cousin when he got angry. He was reliving it. Nothing funny, pure trauma, just staring back into the past. If you see this Bobby, there is no stigma in getting therapy buddy these days. Everyone has been through something.
