Class personified . I became a 120lb. defensemen playing ice hockey because of him , wore his number # 4 , and was captain of the Allentown Cortex Rangers 78-79 because I copied his style on and off the ice , that's what makes a captain. A gentleman in a brutal game .

I went to a Junior A practice in Oshawa & played againts Bobby. We sat on the bench, looked at each other & said "if this is our competition we better look for a good day job". Love you Bobby.

@@stratovani Agreed. I'm from Boston, and one would be hard-pressed to find a city that has had the greatest of the greats pro sports names than Boston has been fortunate enough to host (not arrogance, just making a point). Yet despite all the titans (Bill Russell, Brady, Bird, Havlicek, David Ortiz, Martinez, Clemens, Gronk, etc.) that have played for Boston, I've never seen an athlete who has never had ANY bad word said about them from the Boston-area fans other than Bobby Orr. Sounds cliche, but as great as Orr was as a player, he really is a better person.

@@eddriver7815 so you think that an endorsement of Trump automatically makes a person devoid of class? Bobby Orr is a conservative. Many people are. Conservatism means less government, less identity politics and political correctness, advancement based on meritocracy and not past racial injustices, among other things. So while I don’t think Bobby Orr appreciates the indelicateness and lack of diplomacy that Trump manifests, his value system is more in line with a conservative ideology. Hence his support of Trump. This in no way means Bobby is devoid of class. Maybe after witnessing the BLM riots, the rise of wokeness and the media blackout of the Hunter Biden scandal, which probably is the reason Biden won, he realized how dangerous the ultra leftists really are. And …. you too.

Gotta love hockey players. The toughest and humblest athletes in the world. Bobby Orr the epitome of class. It still amazes me what he was able to accomplish in an injury shortened career. This coming from a Rangers fan whose championship hopes were crushed by Bobby in the early 70s.

There is a picture of Orr with all the Awards he won in 1970. A single season. Imagine if you will- no other player won those Awards over their entire career let alone a single season. Mind boggling.

The Bruins are playing the Philadelphia Flyers in the Game 6 Final of the 1974 Stanley Cup. The Flyer are at home with a 3-2 lead and call in personally Kate Smith to sing their good luck charm, God Bless America. Guess who is the first person that goes up to meet her and shake her hand after she sang to help the Flyers win. Bobby Orr.

1970, at 8 y.o., the gahdin, 11 rows behind Cheever's for two periods. Saw Bobby score a hat trick and in that game he took a shot from the point, got tipped over the glass and hit the lady behind me in the ribs. She wouldn't give me the puck.

The greatest natural skater of all time, and I include McDavid in this comparison. That's what set him apart then the same way McDavid's skating sets him apart in the game today. If Bobby was playing in the NHL today, he would still be right on top. The only defenseman to win a scoring championship and he did twice with a bad left knee. He changed the game according to the great Jean Beliveau. Buffalo Sabres great player Gill Perault said you couldn't beat Bobby one on one because he could skate better backwards than everyone else could skate frontwards. What more can you say about the incomparable #4. He was the greatest. It was a sad day November 8, 1978 when he retired only 30 years old.
