I dedicate this song to the brave men who both came home and never came home. We will never forget you.

Written by Gene Allan and Bobby Vinton, I feel that this song was an attempt to duplicate the success of "Mr. Lonely" which was also written by Bobby, and was about a lonely solider away from home. This song did not turn out to be as memorable but in the midst of the Vietnam war, it still did very well, charting at 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Here's hoping for more Bobby Vinton posts as he's one of my favorites!

Thanks for showing another Bobby Vinton song shown on the eve on LBJ’s build up debacle in Vietnam when most of the soldiers over wished that song was true. Have a great day!

Opposite for me. The way he says “no Purple Heart to wear on my chest” makes me get chills tbh. Mr Lonely just made me sad
