The rear suspension setup is also different between the turbo and NA.. NA uses torsion beam if I'm not mistaken while turbo gets multi link setup.

a year ago i bought a elentra GT, when i tested it it engine tranny chassis reminded me of the old b16s, so i took it over the SI, but u cant get those no more, they now put a turbo in the 2018 GT and jacked up the price. anyways the old GT is way more fun then the modern civics, now i just refuse to get a honda anymore, the brand wants to go premium, Hyundai is kinda like the old honda, resale value is poor is not a concern when it puts smile on my face. in time people will understand, just give them time as usual

cvt is less a durable gearbox than automatic and dual clutch. if you press acceleration pedal very hard and very often, the cvt will be prematurely gone.

I wish Hyundai could bring back naturally-aspirated 1.6L MPI engine for the Elantra. Never mind if it only produces 128hp, but what's more important is giving customers a budget-friendly alternative for them (MPI engine is easier to service than GDI ones and 1.6L has cheaper roadtax rate).

i think it is fair to say that for normal daily driver slash utilitarian purpose the civic 1.5t is a good choice but to compare directly with the elantra turbo is quite unfair since the elantra has 204ps/265nm six speed which is under the same category as the civic SI that has about the same power but definitely a lot more expansive... the elantra can be a good choice for those who want a power of a audi 1.8t, c250 or 320i or even a gti at a very reasoanble price.. all know the lux german dont have plenty of cubby space too..

kudos to hyundai for making a more affordable high powered car...i remember back in 2010, a bmw e90, 325i m-sport has 218hp/250nm six speed that can go 0-100 in 7.7second... that car was rm309k otr... now you can enjoy the same acceleration and relatively more usable power due to turbo has a max torque coming at lower rpm in this case its 1750rpm as compared to the ol bmw inline six...yes the bmw is a rear drive car with nice handling but the avante sport with its tweak suspension albeit being a front wheel drive.. still a fun to drive especially at a price 60% less than the e90.... and one more thing the 2.5 liter roadtax is rm800++ while this elantra is only rm90

and people here keep comparing it with civic on its resale value, if you look at it at glass half ful, the elantra is trying to provide a taste of bmw/audi to the masses with affordable price... it has european design flair...interior is a normal bmw audi layout while civic has a different design language a japan style futuristic design.. so when a car that can deliver a fun and power as that of a 320i or the golf gti with price of a civic.. its a bargain

It is a matter of perspective. American love this type of rough sound, as it sounds like their old V8. You can search Elantra Sport sound or Subaru boxer sound, the American praise them like crazy.

Been driving this car for just over a month. You are spot on on the NVH, and tire noise. Even at 160km/h wind noise is still minimum, but the tire rolling noise is horrendous. Thinking on PS4 on the next tire change. I assuming you referring to V12 evo2 when you said Hankook evo tire. How is this tires perform against PS4 in terms of grip?

They didnt benchmark the Mazda 3. Mazda benchmarked the Elantra model before this one. This model is pretty similar to the earlier model in size. This is more of a carry over from the earlier model and Hyundai didnt really make much effort in improving the design, thats why it looks like a Mazda 3.

Apart from power, which can be easily overcome with a Race Chip or Hondata tune, the Civic trounces the Elantra on most critical criteria. RV will always be an issue for me when I trade in /sell my car for my new ride in 5-6 yrs. Really want to minimise the pain to my wallet. BTW, the new CRV and Civic Si in US has 193hp /243 Nm and 205hp / 260Nm from the same 1.5 T.

shhhss.. later he will burn you saying CVT is more reliable, all honda using etc. scooters using CVT and always snap because they are not honda.. Jokes aside, nothing can beat DCT interms of efficiency on power nailing down to asphalt. sure, your so called racechip or hondata can intercept and cast a different signal compared to the ECU. However, your CVT has a torque limiter which will kick the ecu to back off its power.

JDM Market cvt gearbox for family car is fine.. in fact very comfort, but tekan with this elantra thn no way. elantra is just for tekan and have fun, that probably only happens 5% of ur drive. if u decided on civic, try also the vw jetta. u may love it.

Paper spec is 7.7s vs 8.2s, a difference of 0.5s. On real world according to performancedrive.com.au the 0-100 for Elantra Sport is 6.85s vs 7.54s on the civic 1.5 turbo. Do you need a calculator to know its much more than 0.1s? To show how fast is 6.85s , the Subaru WRX CVT has a speed of 6.7.s on 0-100 on normal Sport# mode. Thats a lot closer to the 0.1s you mention, except its towards the Subaru WRX, a true sportscar selling for RM231k in Malaysia. So next time research first before talking cock.
