You are right! I feel as if people often fail to recognize or choose to focus on either his struggles or how he measures up/compares to other R&B/Soul singers. Bobby always had a great tone, cadence, power, flavor & a generally pleasing singing voice! I'm a fan from way back when I was a child. In kindergarten, my very first cassette tape (album) I ever asked my Mom to buy me was the New Edition album with Cool It Now & Mr. Telephone Man. I wore that tape out! When Bobby's second solo album came out late 80s, I bought it straight away. I loved his sound, his style, his personality, stage presence, etc! I've always loved every member of NE (not so much Mike Bivens, because he just wasn't/isn't much of a singer). I love Johnny Gill for bringing in that gospel, lush Luther Vandross sort of soul & big belting range. I love Riz for his distinct, sweet, very Michael Jackson influenced sort of vocals. I love Ricky for his just good 'ol solid vocals & range. I love Ronnie for his slick, sexy-sounding vocals (both singing & rapping). On the BBD song "Do Me," that first verse has Ronnie on lead. When he sings: "Take a look at meeeeee...tell me do ya like what'cha see?? Do you think you caaaaaaan...Do ya think ya can doooo-ooooo-ewwww-oooo me?!" It's pretty sensual & inherently hypnotic. (He deserves more credit for being a very important member of both NE & BBD...Not to mention, he is a great-looking man & he is the best dancer of both groups). And again, I concur that Bobby had/has such a great quality to his singing voice! Very distinct, unique, smooth, sexy, soulful, & raw. On the NE "Home Again" album, Bobby's contribution was invaluable & priceless to the group's overall sound, vibe & feel. There's a clear difference between NE albums *with* Bobby verses NE albums *without* Bobby. I've always felt that his was the most dynamic & versatile voice in New Edition. No, he cannot belt & blow like JG, nor does he croon in that "pop-R&B" sort of style that Riz has. He voice has or had a special sound, that "it" quality, and he just oozed energy, sex appeal, warmth & soul. 🎶💛

This song feels so happy, like no matter all the dark times that relationship had, and even though it ended. This was a piece of the best of them, this song and the energy it gives it what it was like for them when that relationship was at its best. The part towards the end just gives me chills, that note shes hitting on the "you" while they take turns singing "Baby YoOoOou, baby you, Baby YoOoOou, baby you". Its electric. She was just glowing & so soft, feminine & healthy. Pregnancy suited her.
