In this video, learn how to give your drawings depth and dimension for a more realistic and professional look. These techniques will take your art to the next level! This will be a raw look into how I sketch but more specifically, how I achieve depth and dimension with shading techniques and varying line weight. There's no speaking, and no editing. It's just the sound of my pencil and an occasional cough (there is one point where I paused it to take a break and forgot to push record again so I was drawing for 10 minutes on pause).
Drawing is a skill that most people wish they could do but they immediately put themselves in the category of "Oh, I could never do that." I want to take this time and welcome you to my channel: Draw Sessions.
I've been drawing all my life and have had the privilege of working both for AAA game studios and also movies. I have taught foundation drawing at the University of Cincinnati and it's time now to give back. I understand the frustrations of learning art in general but specifically, drawing. My channel is dedicated in helping absolute beginners, intermediate artists, and industry veterans - all wanting to improve their drawing skills. Please like, subscribe, hit the notification bell and comment below if you're finding this channel helpful in your journey of becoming an artist.

Hello everyone. Thank you for stopping by and watching my video. I encourage you to check out other lessons I have posted if you want to get better at drawing. Check out our Creature Design Workshop Discord and join the community! The link is in the description. P.S. I cough a few times during the video and it might startle you. I didn't edit it out in order to keep the session as raw as possible.

Thank you sir, for such an informative KZbin site. I’ve been painting primarily in watercolor it rarely do thumbnail sketches such as you do. Also I rarely do anything like you do as fantasy drawings. I look forward to doing some of that. I am in my 8 th decade of life but always enjoy concepts like what you are presenting…. Where were you 50 years ago?

Hello :) Just wanted to ask, if you or someone who is reading this, could recommend a good book or ebook for learning how to draw those demonic creatures... im currently studying technical industrial design, but i need something else to draw, that keeps me interested... and those drawings of you are just stunning! At the moment i dont think it would be worth it to go to your workshop, so i want to work for myself until i feel like i can take profit from it :)

Thanks. As a fellow industrial designer myself, I'm well aware of the need to draw horrific stuff. As far as books and stuff goes, anything from Terryl Whitlatch is great as well as "art of..." books for popular games and movies.
