I have a 9 month old gray tabby kitten that does the same thing with her canned food. She'll eat what she wants, then try to cover the rest up. She'll keep scratching at/around it 'til I put it in a ziplock bag. Later, she'll paw at the bag until I open it up again. She's only six and a half pounds, but acts very much like her much bigger cousins.

How cute! When Big has finished eating he still covers his plate. Usually with paper towel I use to set plate down with. The other day I didn't use a paper towel and he got the dust pan and covered up his chicken bones when he was done😂

I saw this video on cheetah's once and this young cheetah found food hidden in a tree supposedly left by another cat, if not iT's mother, and the food was so well tied up, however that was done, the young cheetah couldn't access iT.

He is so handsome! Rescue is so very important! I rescued and raised a wolf cub. He was the love of my life. A very big boy with an even bigger heart. He was such a character! I took him to nursing homes,churches,and schools. This gorgeous big cat brought back some wonderful memories! Give him a big scratch from me!🥰🐯🐆

I've put live fish in bathtub full of water. He "rescues" them and wants them thrown back in the water. He's never had to kill anything living for food.

I love the bathtub idea! That way he can forage in a river or pond like he would in the wild. What a great idea for the big guy! My house cat tries to sit on the side of the tub and grab my toes while I’m showering. Hopefully letting that big bobcat fish in the tub sometimes gets the instinct out so he doesn’t try that particular trick with the family, lol.

And I wish he was out in the wild doing that. He wouldn't be with me if original owner hadn't abused him. And had him neutered and declawed. Both of us would be much happier if he'd been left in the wild. With his momma. I didn't choose this life for Big Boy. He wasn't eligible for rehabilitation or release. It was me or be euthanized. I'm trying to make the best out of a bad situation. People get exotic and/or wild animals for the wrong reasons. Support your local shelter and adopt or volunteer. And always spay or neuter your domestic dogs and cats.

That video was on his 6th birthday. He's 7 now. I'm not a big person and I'm the only person he trusts. But I still never forget he's a wild animal. That only eats raw meat.....

Thank you so much for giving this kitty a home and taking such good loving care of him. He's probably much more expensive to feed than a regular domestic cat. And there are no vacations for you. But you have his company in return and that is good. Two of my cats bury their food until they're hungry. Neutered cats tend to put on weight, but unless they're grossly overweight it's not an issue; they don't have to be able to catch a meal or run from predators.

That's what I do with my lunch on occasion. Best not to let it sit too long, though. After a couple of weeks things can get a little sketchy. Like the pizza under the couch cushion. Funny video. Wonderful cat.

I had a kitten, in Hawaii, that turned into a 28#, 4' long cat with identical markings to your bobcat. He LOVED the water, had enormous ears and oversized nosepad, but his tail was as long as a 'normal' cat. I knew he had to be a mix breed, but figured Abyssinian or African Feral cat. He was a darling!

I work in a cat rescue with neonatal kittens. A construction worker brought a newborn kitten he had found under some rubble to our facility, only problem was it was a bobcat kitten. How I would have LOVED to raise that baby, but we took her to a wildlife rehab, the best place for her.

I have a senior brown tabby cat and he also tries to cover his plate of canned food when he’s finished or he’s not hungry. It always made me laugh because it was as if he was covering things in a litter box and I thought that must be some stinky canned food! 😹 Your bobcat is absolutely gorgeous! 😻

I so agree!! But because he was declawed, neutered and abused by original owner Big didn't have the option to be rehabilitated and released 😥 I'm sure we'd both be happier if he'd been left in the wild.....it's been a long 8 years....people don't realize that bobcats aren't pets and don't make you "cool". They're a huge responsibility and commitment. We're basically both in captivity now..... But here he's much loved and very spoiled😻 Not something I'd ever do again though.

He is beautiful. In the wild, I guess he would be burying food to eat at another time. Have you thought of a small baby pool with some water, catch some live fish near you & put them in there? They’d be live stimulation for him.

Thank you and yes. I've bought feeder goldfish and minnows and put in the bathtub for him. He "rescues" them but doesn't eat them. He's never had to kill anything living to eat. I really thought he'd eat them but he wanted them back in the tub to play with lol
