I’m a bobcat tech in north Georgia. Run into water in connectors on the R Series all the time. I hit all the controllers with some compressed air even if they seem dry. Fixes electrical issues 90% of the time.

Do you have battery isolators ever on these machines? Thinking about electrical stuff, should have an auto-isolator kick everything out to prevent drain and possible hazards...

I have a bobcat t86 and the AC compressor clutch will not come on even after servicing AC to make sure pressures were good and all, fuses were good even swapped relays, still ac clutch has no power to it. I can use a Power Probe and make the clutch kick in, so the clutch is good , any ideas?
@williamdowey3117

@@dwightschrute1953 first thing to check is to ensure you’re getting voltage to the relay and signal to the relay. If you are then issue would be in the harness between the relay and a/c compressor connector. Are there any codes present in relation to the A/C? That’s where I would start

I do these all the time with my rainy climate. I often find water in the cab to mainframe connector. Also, there is a small connector that is terminated by the hub controller, just has a cap on it. Usually always have water in it from sitting on the belly of machine. Little hard to see depending on machine options but it’s there. I always blow every conector out that i can reach under the cab and use dialectic grease, made it part of my PDI, because if it don’t, it will be back. One small drop of water can cause all sorts of issues. Hope that helps anyone with this issue. Good video 👍🏼

Being an Automotive Tech for 35 yrs, I've never had huge success in using dielectric. I use a spray can product that's a wool wax formula. In Canada I buy either Fluid Film or Honey Goo. There may be more companies that make similar products. It is non-conductive, creeps and/or wicks into the wires, displaces and respells water, and prevents corrosion. It also does not cause swelling like petroleum based products do. I usually blast out connectors with brake parts cleaner, then air followed by the spray. I use it every where I want to control corrosion. The issue is the fact all the controllers you mention all use low voltage for communication between each other and from sensor signals. It doesn't take much to alter the voltage and therefore the signal. I've been dealing with this for decades in the automotive side. Pretty much since the first computers started showing up in cars.

I've got a T62. 500 hours. Its gone through 2 harnesses now. Bobcat Company refused to pay for my rental on a Kubota for the amount of time my machine was out... PLUS they still let me continue to pay my monthly lease cost on it. It puts their dealers in an awkward situation. I had my machine on site at an important snow contract at a hospital. Thanks to this issue, I was down a very important piece of machinery for a very important area of the snow site. It really will put me in a tough situation on my renewal. Thank you very much Bobcat company. Sucks because I was looking at purchasing a TL 723..

Cleaning ground wires and positive wires are an issue especially either harness being so close to the bottom of the allowing mud moisture getting in the connectors that feed the mid controller and hub controller connecting to main harness . Also the the connector from main harness to cab harness is the issue as well

Sounds like a hot machine cooling off may pull moisture into the connectors. On some harley davidson motorcycles if you spray water on a hot engine they sometimes will pull the gasket and water into the engine.

I went to start it yesterday & the battery was dead. I put cables on it & it powered up. I entered the passcode & pushed the start button, but it just clicked & went dead. I checked removed the battery jump point nut in the engine compartment, cleaned it & reinstalled it. It powered back up, but did it clicked & went completely dead again when I hit the start button. It's as though it's resetting.

I’ve had so many issues with the electrical side of things where the r series loaders (more prominent in the s62-s76 models) where they do not turn off unless you disconnect the battery or hit the isolator. All to do with the circular exhaust vents on all the controllers water, dirt or moisture gets through the vent and just causes issues

I know a lot of manufactures have been using soy as a wire insulator. Might work for keeping electrons in but maybe not water out? I know these can bus systems use a pretty small gauge wire. Might have to dig out that can of wire dry shellac. This only comes to mind as I have a car I have to replace a portion of harness from a rabbit chewing up the wires.

What does WD in the name WD40 stand for water displacement if you think you have a water issues you need to put it in there and Dielectric grease fills in the voids so water will not lay in your plug and does cut down on Croatian / 35 years of experience

Love some r-series electrical issues, seemed to be better as of late, we send out a lot of snow machines around 300 or so a year and as snow machines go they sit and sit for months and those have been the worst for harness issues. Other than electrical and the early lower lift cylinder pins seizing, the r-series have been very good. We recently just got in a 5600 hour s76 from a metal foundry which has been beat to hell, rear door has been smashed to pieces, cabs all dented but overall its in very good shape mechanically speaking. Engine runs fantastic hasn't had injectors like all the v-1 engines seem to need, axle seals arent leaking, no drive motor chain case leaks like every other machine will experience at some point. I bet the cylinders have been resealed but currently none of the cylinders are leaking. Everyone hates on the r-series and for good reason with there harness issues, wimpy rear door, cat look alike, but to be honest they are great machines

Electrical gremlins, suck, no doubt. My T770 gets random codes thrown out in very cold temps when I plow snow. Every winter. I shut it down, count to 10, then restart the machine, and 90% of the time that fixes the problem. Once the machine warms up, and can dry out that moisture, that works well for my machine. I try to park it in my shop for the winter, but that isn't always possible, but it is what it is. Thanks for that run down, greatly appreciate it. Oh, that rubber boot can help keep moisture out, but it will trap condensation from dry faster too. Catch 22 from my point of view. Take care, hope you have a great New Year!!! Well, allegedly, Doosan turned the Bobcat into a Doochebag. They better start issuing mass recalls to fix these sorts of issues. I bet it has to do with the engine and wires generating heat underside the cab and and as the wires cool down, they draw in cold most air that condensates on the pins. Can't throw bags of rice in there to draw off the moisture because of the rats, but maybe some other sort of desiccant packs might help around the connectors.

I don't understand bobcat fan boys. Bobcat has not sorted out how to keep connectors clear. Something other industries have resolved decades ago. When asked on how to prevent the problem bobcat responds like an internet forum... everybody claiming a given solution is bad. These machines are an absolute bitch to keep running in the cold, or the wet. My fleet gets wet. PMI's include full wash about every quarter. Winter excluded if freezing temps are expected. While I like the support my dealer provides... it is support that should never be needed. WD-40 and compressed air for the short term. Dialectic after the water is purged. To the internet and Bobcat failures... dialectic can never increase resistance if your pin fitment is correct (IE you built it right in the first place). 3M Silicone Paste. PN 08946.

I lifted the cab on my T76 recently and it had 4"+ thick layer of mud on the bottom. I scraped and washed it all out until it looked new again. it took all day. I even left the hose on with a sprinkler for 3 hours inside of it to try and get all the areas I couldnt see. I waited a day before starting it and it ran fine. A month or so later I raised the cab again and there was 1" layer of mud over everything again. every single area had mud. I was pretty mad and closed the cab and noticed at least a 1/2" gap on the sides and around the cab. Plus the areas where the hoses from tracks go into cab. all packed with mud. I called bobcat and they want almost 2000 for the forestry mulching seal kit. I went to the store and bought marine grade weather stripping. I added it all around the gaps but forgot to plug the drain holes on the bottom. Very poor design. In the back under the starter is 4" of mud and i cant get it to drain out. Going to have to try and tilt bobcat up so it drains back. Also the AC stops working after 30 minutes because it freezes up from being caked with mud under the seat. my 2017 S650 AC never froze up
