Try listening to Morgans version of (Maroon 5s) "Maps" with PMJ or there are other good conversions like Sweet Meg covering "Last Nite" (from The Strokes) or Dancing With Myself - (Billy Idol) by clarinet player Chloe Feoranzo, who also make an unusual entrance in Meggs "Last Nite" cover. But dont leave out Haley Reinhart or Ariana Savalas.

Saw Morgan James in concert earlier this year and she closed the show with this. As she was signing a CD for my wife and I, I said to her "I think I just saw Steven Tyler waving a white flag." There is a wealth of her stuff on You Tube. Her version of Sarah MacLachlan's "I Will Remember You" brought me to tears and I just today heard her version of Sting's "If You Love Someone Set Them Free" and it's off the charts. She is beyond brilliant.

@@bobcieslinski I agree Morgan's rendition of "Sledgehammer" is epic. I also recommend PMJ's calab with Morgan of the song "Maps" by Maroon 5, where Scott Bradley transforms this cover into something that sounds like a Motown Classic that could've been sung by Jackson 5 instead of Maroon 5 lol 🤣

I have seen many vocal coach reactions to this arrangement of Dream On and I really enjoyed hearing your Band leader perspective. It really helped me appreciate it even more. I hadn't realized that it was a cello solo for instance and not a base solo nor that the pianist was the master mind behind the arrangements for PMJ. Thanks very much! More PMJ reactions please.

I would never have thought about this song switched into a jazz type composition, but it was done very well. Her vocals went right along, kind of made me think of Ella Fitzgerald for some reason. Honestly I’d like to hear Asami from Lovebites do a rendition like this, especially since her background is R&B. Using the strings was a nice compliment, but I missed a bit of solo guitar lol. Great selection and reaction!!

nice reaction bob... morgan james is an amazing singer and performer and fits perfectly with the postmodern jukebox family. she is very different than my favorite haley reinhart but exceptional in her own way. she is opera trained from julliard. this performance is stunning and her best one... imho. the string arrangement is also superb and i think is the same muscians and stage used in the pmj/haley cover "black hole sun". the way the guy on the cello plucks it like a guitar after her first run is super cool (never seen that before). 😎

I was really surprised to see that you hadn't already reacted to this. I'm so glad that you did. This is one of my top five all-time favorite covers. This is the only version of Dream On All ever listen to. One thing I learned from the Temple Music Academy channel is and I'm paraphrasing that they kept the whatever loose on the bottom of the snare drum so that when it was played it was period accurate.

PMJ has the most amazing singers. Between Morgan and Hailey and the rest, they are just stunning. There are two other suggestions I will make for you. You still haven't gotten to Epica, the symphonic metal band featuring Simone Simons. Related to this piece, I would suggest listening to their a capella version of the song Rivers from their Omega Alive concert. After hearing it, your school's choir conductor may want to have the choir sing it. :) My other suggestion is to listen to Ayreon's Star One song, The Fate of Man featuring Brittney Slayes, the singer of Unleash the Archers. you won't regret either.

BTW, this is the link to Spirit Black (reuploaded) by Aldious. This is the lineup that started my journey into Japanese Rock/Metal. It was released off their album Determination back in 2011. The band formed in 2008 and by 2011 had already had some player changes. In fact, there have been so many personnel changes it's hard to keep up, but the band has persisted. Their third album in 2013 broke into the top ten of the Oricon album chart. Anyways, they also were somewhat the first successful Japanese all female rock/metal band, and in a way the forefront of Lovebites by intentionally expressing their femininity, although later they toned that down to reduce the "all female" tag. So a little history and the beginning of my rabbit hole to the Japanese scene, lol. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGTcnpqwoqd5pNU
