My husband was murdered in 1972. Shot with a high powered rifle while sitting in a restaurant. Slain by a total stranger. 28 years old. My daughter and I have lived 51 years with the mental torture of that nightmare. I think of him every time I listen to this masterful song. It inspired me to dig down deep in that dark hole and write. My ramblings go on and on. notebooks filled with words of pain and anger, lost time, dead dreams. If only I had Bob's gift to create a masterpiece to so magnificently honor his time on earth.

"Play it's for the dog that got no master" got to me. First because it's beautiful sad and touching and second because Bob still uses that old school language which could be taken as Politically Incorrect today. Hell, I even heard people say you shouldn't use the term 'owner' of your 'pet'. They are your 'animal companion'.😩

A country singer once said the following " this world is full of singers but only a few are chosen to tear our hearts out when they sing" Bob Dylan is undoubtedly among those few chosen to make us dream, to make us weep. This song is an extraordinary rendition of what happened in Dallas on November 23 of 1963. I know that when Mr. dies, it will be a very sad day.

You know, I’m sitting here in Ireland during the covid-19 shutdown thinking: thank god for folk songs. By coincidence, Bob Dylan’s name is trending on twitter. I think the worst. But then, a miracle. A new song! But, it’s actually more of an opus. At first I think, 17 minutes on JFK - a bit much. But this is perfect. I’m lucky to have heard this on the day it was released. Went I’m sad, I think how lucky I have been to been alive while Bob Dylan was writing songs. Thanks for this, thanks for not giving up on us. On the truth.

I don't know what to say about it other than I'm deeply moved by it. As of writing I'm 38 years old, 39 this year but I don't feel a day over 18 or so. I started listening to Bob around 2010 or so, ridiculously late but I was born much too late and at wrong lattitude, or maybe not, who's to say anyway...In the fall/winter of 2020 and spring 2021 I drove city buses in the town of Zgierz in central Poland and I was listening to the music pretty much all the time while driving. I remember I often listened to this song late at night making my last round..the mood suited the late hour and the empty streets...and I know all the stuff about Johnson and the blink on the plane, grassy knoll and all that. When I was younger more often that not when I listened to Bob's early stuff I had tears in my eyes. It touched something in my soul that I cannot put my finger on...forgive my unwordiness.. :)

"There's twelve million souls that are listenin' in." That was then. Millions of souls have tuned in to listen to this mysteriously timed new work from Dylan ~ during a global pandemic and the political nightmare we're all (including Bob Dylan) suffering from. I think it's his way of handing out a little sane comfort to us all while the political insanity blares on around us. After all, he's been doing it almost all of his life, and thank god we've had him to listen to! Thank you for everything, Bob. The answer is still blowing in the wind, but it's certainly good to hear from you again at a time like this!

@sillybillybadboy Trump has been critical of the Fed for not destroying the value of the dollar fast enough, i.e., depreciating the currency by making more of the artificial (paper) "money." So, what makes you believe the bankers game is over, when the Fed still exists in the 1913 law? But there was never any authority for the government in the Supreme Law of the Land document to create any central bank, much less one controlled by a private cartel of tiny oligarchs.

@@andys9899 I was not aware that he was so beloved in Germany, but it explains my Grandfather's reaction. My mother told me how he cried for days after Kennedy's assassination, and that he was visiting us at the time (we lived in Dallas). He was her Father-in-law, whom she had been kind of afraid of, until she saw his tender heart breaking. I was only 2, so I don't remember, but I do remember what a sweet man my "Granddaddy" was. Although he was born in S. Texas in 1882, he was raised in a small close-knit community of expatriated Germans who were very proud of their heritage. When I was a child in the 60s, I remember that town (Schulenburg) still had a German language newspaper for it's citizens who preferred German. My Grandfather's sister never learned English, died in 1960.

I don’t often comment on KZbin, but I want to make a record of my thoughts at the end of the first steps of my Dylan journey. A few months ago I decided to explore Bob’s work after hearing ‘I and I’ for the first time. This is mostly because two people whose music I love (Patti Smith and Leonard Cohen) kept mentioning him in interviews - So I decided to see what all the fuss was about with Dylan. I start listening to the rest of Infidels, then stumbled on Slow Train Coming, then some of the live performances and I just felt this SPARK like this was something I should have known about a long time ago. It resonated. Like when you read a line in a book and it feels like it’s describing some hidden truth that’s always been inside of you but you haven’t been able to express. Keats said poetry should be like that. There’s no doubt in my mind that Dylan is classical poetry. Alright, so then I’m watching performance after performance, just starting to get a grip on the range of songs and styles and I’m a bit lost… I figured what I needed was to put in some time to really get a basic understanding of the path Bob has been on musically since about 50 years before I was born. So for the past 39 days I’ve listened to his albums. One album per day and other materiel in between. I’ve read Tarantula and Chronicles (I’m planning on ordering his new book), watched Masked and Anonymous, Don’t Look Back, The Scorsese documentaries including The Last Waltz - I’ve even gotten close to watching Hearts Of Fire (but the reviews intimidate me…). I’ve read articles about his music, those excellent Bill Flanagan interviews… Even listened/watched Weird Al Yankovic’s ‘Bob’. Full concerts, audio concerts and random pieces from the Bootlegs. I’ve listened to Theme Time Radio Hour regularly and have learned a bunch of his songs on guitar. Hearing his work in sequence has been quite the journey. The first confident guitar strums on ‘You’re No Good’ from 1962 all the way to these last haunting piano notes on Murder Most Foul. I wish I knew how to explain how his music makes me feel - But there’s no way. It’s all instinct and emotion. A gut response, not something you can pull apart and analyze. I’m talking about this like I’m the one who discovered Bob, but I know there are so many millions of people who feel this same way. I’m a late-comer and apparently much younger than most of you folks, but this stuff is ageless in my opinion. I’m just glad I found it now so I can take it with me on my journey through life how ever long that turns out to be. I read a comment here on KZbin on I don’t remember what Bob song. It said ‘I’m going to love this for the rest of my life’. Yeah. I feel like that. It’s humbling and beautiful that one person’s honest expression of their own self can touch so many people in a profound way. I listened to an interview from the 80’s a few weeks ago where Bob was saying he regrets that he didn’t become a surgeon or doctor, because those are the people he admires -- The people who can save someone’s life on the highway. I wanted to tell him ‘You are are a doctor Bob!’ We’re all dying on the highway in some fashion - That’s what life is. And the music you make is soothing. It’s comforting. It’s a healing kind of music like you said you hoped it would be. It’s medicine for the soul. I’m convinced my anxiety levels lower when I listen to his voice. So often you find an artist whose work you love and then find out without looking for it that this person is not someone you can really respect as a human being (Patti Smith and Leonard Cohen excepted of course). It’s been a pleasure reading Bob’s books and the interviews I’ve seen with him to find that he seems to be a genuinely honorable man. A person with kindness and integrity. I don’t know him and I don’t want to obsess about finding personal information on someone who obviously values their privacy. Only God really knows each of us but Bob is now in my prayers the same way members of my family are. Really his music speaks better than anything about the person he is. I expect it’s the most genuine expression anyone’s likely to find without knowing him personally. Alright enough rambling. It’s kind of silly to write something like this and then post it publicly, but it feels right to do something to mark the first leg of my Dylan journey. No one asked for this essay, but I’m gifting it to the void. By the way, (if anyone made it this far...) can someone tell me what the female variant of ‘Bobcat’ is? (Bobcat meaning ‘Dylan fan’) Or is it unisex? ‘Bobkitten’? That doesn’t sound good. Degrading. I’ve heard ‘Bobchick’ but I think ‘Chick’ is no longer politically correct (she said, as someone who says ‘chick’ on a daily basis). Help would be appreciated.

Play Marching through Georgia and Dumbarton’s drums Play darkness and death will come when it comes Play Love me or leave me by the great Bud Powell Play the Bloodstained Banner, play Murder Most Foul Amazingly, someone has already uploaded to AZLyrics (and put in ALL the quotation marks, too!!) i don't agree with four or five bits of their lyrics (curiously they're often the simpler things while they've nailed the more arcane, such as Grassy Knoll in capitals, and - probably - Karl Wirsum instead of Carl Wilson, though both fit), but I have taken a couple of things from them. Their punctuation is a bit more fastidious than mine. here's that link www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/bobdylan/murdermostfoul.html

All those who missed "those eloquent songs from the good old days" that "set us to marchin' with banners ablaze" are fully satisfied now and know ya never left us. Those were the best love songs but that's the best political song ever written by anyone. Best song ever about Dallas, too. We walk past that freeway embankment and through the triple underpass like it's just a normal place.

I would have re-worded that slightly: "Your attorney general brother is coming, there'll be hell to pay!" But of course, Bobby's power was stripped the same day. LBJ and his gang of murderers, war-hawks, and corrupt pols now ruled the country, and after '64 was safely elected, LBJ started the real shooting war we remember in his Mar. 8, 1965 army regulars and Marines landing in Vietnam.

It was a dark day in Dallas, November '63 A day that will live on in infamy President Kennedy was a-ridin' high Good day to be livin' and a good day to die Being led to the slaughter like a sacrificial lamb He said, "Wait a minute, boys, you know who I am?" "Of course we do, we know who you are!" Then they blew off his head while he was still in the car Shot down like a dog in broad daylight Was a matter of timing and the timing was right You got unpaid debts, we've come to collect We're gonna kill you with hatred, without any respect We'll mock you and shock you and we'll put it in your face We've already got someone here to take your place The day they blew out the brains of the king Thousands were watching, no one saw a thing It happened so quickly, so quick, by surprise Right there in front of everyone's eyes Greatest magic trick ever under the sun Perfectly executed, skillfully done Wolfman, oh wolfman, oh wolfman howl Rub-a-dub-dub, it's a murder most foul

@Filip Martin John Jr. hadn't announced, but polls already had him ahead of Hillary who had carpetbagged to New York to claim that Senate seat. Timberwolf, GHWB, was in Dealy Plaza after the assassination, or "The Big Event" as CIA insiders called it, as was a confused 17 year old Dubya. The plane crash in 1999 appears to be a tricky bit of work that allowed Jr, Carolyn, and her sister to assume new identities and work quietly with allies in a patriotic faction of the MIC to develop The Plan, an operation to wrest control of the US back from an ancient evil bloodline elite and usher in a golden age of truly humanitarian economics and governance. You may see the final moves in that Silent War very soon.

James K. Lambert probably less harm than the sheep who still believe the bullshit the government says at their own detriment. Allen Dulles was on the Warren commission and thousands of documents are still classified ffs. The commission was controlled and vital information is still deemed dangerous by the feds, yet there are still people like you saying case closed while pretending to be arbiters of truth despite the facts. Spam your videos and irrelevant comments elsewhere.

There are no mainstream artists that come to mind, but I definitely feel soul reaching music from very small independent musicians. It’s the small no name bands who sing in restaurants and sidewalks. Their music always hits good.

Billie Eilish that green-haired sage poet. She was depressed and wanted the whole world to know it. Whisper singing and mis-pronouncing words. It sounds cute and it sounds fun for the young little turds. Tide pod eating and degeneracy. We wanted more for you, your mother and me. You want to get woke and remove your wee wee. Virus party thrills and middle aged gender reveals. Cool stoner vaping and taking corners on three wheels. Turning your lungs into landfills. Little idiots. Ruining the world with, "Everything should be free". Somebody's gonna finance that discount and ain't gonna be me. Now get inside and eat your peas. Little idiots.

They've gotten what they've paid for. Real artists can't survive against an amateur magnet like the MUSIC IS FREE model. Only propped-up, corporate shills. The scores of todays Dylans are hosting open mic nights, serving coffee, and sleeping in vans from sea to shining sea. I have met dozens of them. Sound-file consumers today have gotten what they've paid for.
