Keep up the good work! Wonderful memories on these boats in the 50's and 60's!! The ride, the views, the smell of the steam from the engines, the hot dogs and the popcorn! And dancing the night away!!

I was from Windsor and was very sad when it burned. I just found out that you have been restoring it again. I am 70 years old and I remember when my mom took my brother and I to Boblo for years and I went on it into my twenties. Great memories. I used to watch the engine room most of the time while on the boat. Thank you for what you are doing.

I didn’t know any were left! I grew up in Michigan and have been on Boblo several times but I haven’t lived in Michigan for over 35 years. Lots of memories.

My Dad played in the Bands aboard both the St Clair and the Columbia and we made many trips to Bob Lo. Island back in the forties when they were boarded at the foot of Woodward avenue.. At 84 years years old, they still remain fond childhood memories.

Live music! In the years toward the end of Boblo, a couple local bands I was in played moonlight party cruises on the boats. Unforgettable. A sense of special, in the moment. Fans and people from all walks and ages, having a great time listening, dancing, laughing and responding to live music together. Great energy and soul. A DJ is fine, fun and all (a dj would spin during our breaks,) but there exists a long tradition of live music on the boats. Hopefully there will be again. --- Also, some earlier fond memories of our school's annual springtime field trips to the island. Picture 2000 ultra-hyper public school 6th, 7th and 8th graders from all over the metro area, fully packed onto the boat (no trouble there, lol!) Chaos!Perhaps you were even there! Those poor chaperones...

The last time I was on a Boblo boat was when I was ten years old. It was the final year the park was open. They had the Simpsons characters there. Me and my Mother road on the boat that was a little bit smaller than that one. I really wish the park was still open. Thank you for the memories. 😊💖

It would make a great addition to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle. Cleveland and Toledo both have old freighters as part of their museums, but the only maritime museum in Detroit doesn't have its own accompanying museum ship - this boat would be perfect for that rather than being a completely separate entity.

They had one boblo boats moored at Nicolson dock and terminal when i worked there back in 1978. Did some repairs on Henry ford ships at the ford rouge plant. Benson, Henry and the breach. I was pretty green back then at my trade.

IDK if this is true...a deckhand on the Boblo boats told me that the decks were laminated canvas, except for the dance floors. He said his job was patching the canvas decks patched from all of the wooden folding chairs punching holes in the decks. He layered several layers of canvas and sealed the patches with shellac. The decks were all fire hazards waiting to happen.

Who is paying for all this restoration work? I ask that because public fundraisers just before the big fire were less than successful.

I have microphones, but they were standing right next to me so I didn't use them. I probably should have, but you can still hear them and that's all that matters.

You don't have to repete the words used by the guy restoring the boat. We viewers can clearly hear him without a voice translator echoing the same words twice. Also, learn to keep the microphone 🎤 closer to the speaker, trying to describe what we are watching. Go to video school and learn the proper techniques of filming. Somewhere along the way, you skipped a few classes in video school. Otherwise, the boat 🚢 views are excellent.
