I want to express my gratitude and say a huge THANK YOU to the amazing Bob Reynolds and (Chris Ferdinand). I have no words and I was truly shocked to see this unexpected video review of our saxophone line! Bob you are just such a killer saxophonist and kind person man. You didn’t need to gives us a shoutout like this but I am so very grateful for it, thank you! 🙌I feel so honored that you enjoyed playing on the horn 🥰🙏. The tenor in the video we made for Chris Around 2019 and it is the New York Signature Tenor. Very recently we released the highest quality modern tenor that we can produce which is hand assembled in our shop in New York City called the: Artist Edition Tenor. I’ll send you an email and I’ll try to put one of the Artist Edition Tenors together for you and mail it out to you sometime in the next few months for you to just have some fun on! 🎷🔥🥰

I grew up on music, my grandfather was a drummer in Jamaica during his youth, has a few records out and my father managed many artists when I was a child and took me with him to studio sessions. It’s always been part of my life, even during the pandemic when practice motivation was at an all time low for me. I’m still playing though!!

Hi Bob, it seems that many players have been changing their Mark VI and Conns for modern instruments such as Eastman, Forestone, Trevor James and alike. I wonder how many of these you have actually tested and for how long because I have the feeling that professional players like yourself would end up sounding the same on any of them in a week of testing... By the way, this is a quote from Brandford Marsalis.... I loved the horn and it's sound, you rock!
@bobreynolds2 жыл бұрын
I think that's largely true (about sounding same after a week), so for me it's mostly about the feel of the instrument (and of course how it sounds). But I have no plans to switch, so it's more about seeing what's out there that comes close to the vintage horns that would be more affordable for someone looking for their next horn. (I've played the same Mark VI since I was in high school with only a couple deviations).

This was awesome, Bob. May I ask: how did the horn feel in terms of weight and the angle of the neck compared to your Mark 6? I have been playing on my unlacquered Mauriat System 76 for about 10 years, but after borrowing a friends Mark 6 for an extended period, I found it hard going back to the Mauriat. It feels like it weighs a ton and the angle of the neck feels too steep.
@bobreynolds2 жыл бұрын
Hi James! The neck angle was surprisingly close(r) to my 6. Not as sloped as I anticipated. It is heavier than my 6.

@corvandermey41722 жыл бұрын
The main problem with all those new saxophones is that you don't know how long it will last and stay that way. I only know that I own a Yanagisawa from new since 2005 and it has a great sound, never have failed one day and is very solid. From other brands I hear too often that they last about 10 years and than fall apart from rust and wear.

no high F# key? can't wait for this trend to end
@bobreynolds2 жыл бұрын
Funny, I didn't even notice. That's probably something I liked about it! :) Coming from playing vintage horns, I feel opposite: I would definitely NOT want a high F# key. #differentstrokes ;)
@eliwyatt22922 жыл бұрын
If you’re not a classical player, the high F# key is inconvenient, it restricts you because it’s so far off from any altissimo fingerings, and sounds way thinner, and usually sharper, so I’m glad more and more modern horns are taking it away

I'm sorry you are bothered. It bothers me, too, but it is how it went down. Many moving parts when making an impromptu video playing a stranger's horn in a food refrigerator that you're not quite sure if you'll end up using and not sure what audio's being picked up over the sound of the refrigerator.
