For the reloading mat, I think you should make a detailed mat of each caliber you reload for. It would contain a large diagram of the cartridge, with all relevant information: C.O.A.L., trim length, etc. Then you could include your own reloading data right on the mat, you could even include the velocities and accuracy out of the multiple platforms that you have. Soon you'll have enough data to make a whole loading book. I would buy one in .223/5.56.

I really like this series, Johnny. It's one thing to Say "This kick ass bullet and that kick ass bullet", However showing a Budget reasonable priced everyday bullet that shoots lights out is awesome. I really want to see the Primer tests. see if things change in accuracy. Btw. H335 is the standard Powder that Lake City uses in the M193 ammo. They Buy in in valium by the rail freight car load and call it something else as government designation powder. It was the answer to the M-16 fouling problems of Vietnam and using BLC-2 as a propellant for that round.

JRB - Always good for 223 /5.56 shooters to have some bulk bullets...mine are Winchester 55 FMJs and I have enough to do several seasons of regular blasting ammo. But these bullets were pointless for varmint shooting. OK for High Power practice at 100 yards though... Just checked out Bob's 223 Bulk Bullets and they've got good stuff over there...Have a great day, FC Steve

Great vid JRB, I picked up 1000 Bobs' bullets after your last video, looking forward to testing them. The bench mat seems like a good idea. I think the IMR 8208 XBR will do very well, it's becoming one of my favorite powders. It consistently gives my Varget loads a run for their money. N140 also shoots lights out in pretty much all my loads also, but the price of N140 sucks.

Great job on both the vid and making connections at Bob's. As far as the mat goes 18"X24" or 15"X18" ( the larger would work on my bench perfectly :) I'm in the process of building a PID and found a neat solution to the problem you had with cutting the braided metal. Believe it or not scissors! Tape the braid where you want it to be cut at then unbraid to that point and use the scissors to cut the loose material. Works great and the tape keeps the sheath from unbraiding past where you want it.

Hey, just an update...loaded up 25.1 gr of H335 in LC and CCI primer under my Bobs' Bullets and shot it hot. About 1200 rounds in and melted first gas ring... Third is OK and 2nd is showing signs... Lol 150 rounds under 30 min several times s fun! But back to the load. Shoots good. Just got a base carbine with Miculek Brake and a 5X prism from Primary Arms and at 100 shooting fast 80% less than 2.5" group and outside about 4" over 30 rounds in under 4 min. Lol. Heck even Mirage is a problem. But matched my 75gr BTHP Hornady I can touch the 300 yard gong without trying so happy. I really don't shoot groups per say with this. That facatory trigger really sucks. Oh well it will be changed when my gas rings show up.

Johnny's Reloading Bench, I haven't loaded any Hodgdon's CFE-223 as of yet, but I have had outstanding groups with Hodgdon's 335 in 223 Remington with the 55 Gr Sierra SBT. Granted I am shooting a Savage bolt gun Model 12 with a 26 inch barrel. I don't own a AR-15 but my question is why do you shoot your AR Suppressed ? Another question is if you sighted your rifle in, then why is most of your hits to the right and below the point of aim?

From the reloads I've produced, CFE 223 demonstrates the same high SD and ES in velocity as well in .308 Win when dealing with light bullets at the top end of the charge weights. The higher variations in velocity SD and ES are likely multiplied when you use a barrel smaller than what is specified for that ammo. Once you start pushing the charges of this powder above the optimum charge weight for complete powder burn in the barrel, the accuracy and velocity consistency starts to tank quickly. Rifle used was gas piston .308 Win 20 inch barrel with 1/12 twist. Assuming the following is the specifications for the ammo/rifle used: .308 Win/7.62 nato 147 grain to 150 grain fmj with 22 to 23 inch barrel. .223 Rem/5.56mm 55gr fmj with 20 inch barrel. CFE 223 just seems to burn too slow than what I would like for .223 rem or .308 Win using light ball ammo. Heavier bullets might be a better choice for this powder since the charge will be reduced and slower burning powder tends to favor heavier bullets.

Start with a single stage press (every reloader should have a single stage press, even if they have a progressive).....maybe start with something like an economical Lee Challenger Kit.....then get a set of calipers (get one that goes out to 3 digits after the decimal point). If it's within your budget, get a brass tumbler to clean your brass. Also look up how to make case lube spray using liquid lanolin & rubbing alcohol (will save you LOTS of $ vs buying pre-made case lube). Then get a reloading manual and dies in the caliber you're wanting to load & you're pretty much set.

How do you think these loads would work from a bolt gun? Not loading 223 yet but want to start for bolt gun

The 24x30 would work better for me with my old eyes, it would make it easier to see.
