🇵🇦 Bocas del Toro, Panama - Panama Set for Tourism Revival After Resolving Mining Protests

The persistent demonstrations against the mining agreement between Panama and Minera Panama have dealt a severe blow to the nation's tourism sector. Prospective tourists are concerned about getting stuck in the midst of road closures and the potential risk of encountering violent incidents. Consequently, foreign tourists are still canceling their bookings, cruise routes are altering their schedules, and numerous conventions and events are being called off. All of these developments are directly translating into revenue losses and a decline in the customer base.
In October, the number of travelers coming to and leaving Panama saw a significant decline of 15.48%.
The blockades on the country's interior roads have resulted in substantial financial losses amounting to $60 million for local tourism operators.
On 28th of November the judicial system in Panama decided that the mining company cannot go on min ing in Panama, which means that big parts of the Rainforest might be saved. Therefore we think that from now on the protests will stop and tourism will get back to normal.
