Bochum - in one version from Büchum (Old English: books), a city in Germany, one of the four centres of the Ruhr region in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The centre of the Middle Ruhr Region, together with the cities of Hattingen, Herne and Witten. Population 375.2 thousand.
The city is famous for the Ruhr University and the Y. M. Lotman Institute of Russian Culture, the German Mining Museum and the musical "Starry Express".
Years:
890 - First mention,
1321 - Bochum received its city rights,
The city was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War,
1965 - Opening of the "Ruhr University",
1979 - Opening of the first phase of the underground and the football stadium,
1993 - The cities of Bochum, Hattingen, Herne, and Witten are united to form the Middle Ruhr region.

Schön?!? Kaputt ist nicht schön! Bröckelnde Klotz-Architektur bis hin zu Ruinen sind nicht schön sondern ekelhaft! Der Mensch wird krank, wenn er in so etwas wohnt. Schön war Bochum noch vor dem 2. Weltkrieg, dann wurde alles zerstört und nicht wieder so aufgebaut.
