In 2005, the Bonnie family, owner of the renowned Château Malartic-Lagravière (Grand Cru Classé de Graves) and of the Château Gazin Rocquencourt (Pessac-Léognan), decided to leave France in search for new horizons in the world of wine. It all began with the acquisition, along with their partners, of a single 130-hectares (321 acres) block of land in the heart of the Uco Valley, to the south of the city of Mendoza. That is where Bodega DiamAndes was born, as a member of the prestigious Clos de los Siete group. The winery’s architectural design blends harmoniously into the stunning Andean scenery. In this context, the winemaking process has taken place under exceptional conditions since the 2007 vintage.
It’s in 1999 that Michel Rolland along with 6 other Bordeaux winemakers founded the Clos de los Siete : an innovative and unique concept : More than 850 hectares divided in 7 plots, each one with its own winery. The vineyard is located in Mendoza, in the heart of the Uco valley, one of the best quality vineyard areas in Argentina. In 2005, the Bonnie family, owners of the renowned Grand Cru Classé Château Malartic-Lagravière, and its neighboring Pessac-Léognan Château Gazin Rocquencourt became part of this Argentinean adventure. Through the purchase, along with their partners, of a single estate of 130 hectares within the Clos de Los Siete, Bodega DiamAndes was born. Nestling in the foothills of the Andes Mountain, at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the Bodega DiamAndes benefits from an ideal terroir: a temperate climate thanks to the altitude, and that together with its sand-gravel-clay soils, allow Malbec - the King of Argentinean grapes- to fully express itself. The Bonnie family then began extensive works: One hundred hectares of vines have been planted over the past few years, and the winery was fully completed at the end of 2009. Everything is made for quality winemaking: Handed picking, handed double sorting after cooling the grapes in cold storage chambers, complete gravity process (from the harvest to the bottle), fermentation in small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, insulated with a polyurethane double jacket , unique in South America ! Prior to being officially inaugurated, Bodega DiamAndes received above all others the “International award ‘Best Of Wine Tourism 2011’ of Great Wine Capitals” for its “Architecture, Parks and Gardens”! We invite you to enter into the world of Bodega DiamAndes: to the Vintages’ crypt; its circular winery, the professional tasting rooms, the Wine Bar, and then taste its wines that are both complex and seductive, intense and balanced which seduce wine lovers from around the world!
Al comprar junto con sus socios un bloque 130 ha en el seno del Clos de los Siete, nació Bodega DiamAndes. Junto a la cordillera Andina, a 1100 m de altitud, la Bodega DiamAndes posee un terruño ideal: un clima templado por la altitud, suelos areno-arcillosos con numerosos cantos rodados que permiten la expresión de los grandes Malbec, el varietal rey argentino. Los Bonnie se lanzan entonces a grandes obras: 100 ha son plantadas progresivamente y la construcción de la Bodega se termina a finales de 2009. Todo está puesto en cuidado para optimizar la calidad a todos los niveles: vendimias manuales, refrigeración en cámara de frío seguida de una doble selección manual, concepto de gravedad total (de la vendimia a la botella), vinificación en pequeños tanques de acero inoxidable termo regulados aislados con doble pared, ¡Única en América del Sur! Aun no oficialmente inaugurada, Bodega DiamAndes resultó ganador de Oro del concurso Previo a su inauguración oficial, Bodega DiamAndes fue distinguida entre todas con el “International award ‘Best Of Wine Tourism 2011’ of Great Wine Capitals” por su “Arquitectura, Parques y Jardines”!
