What did you think of Nobody Wants to Die? What other games would you like me to cover? 😊
@Galrukh4 ай бұрын
Great deep dive. I really enjoyed the game and especially the aestethics. Its interesting how the story, retroactively, changes depending on your choices in the end. You decide whether there was an actual murderer or not and whether the voices in your head is litterally yourself or an actual other person.

I really liked the game up until the endings. I don't like when games rip away agency and force you to move slowly or in a jerky manner and the last quarter of the game was replete with these moments. I also really didn't like way you get locked into endings and to see the other ones requires you to not only replay the game, but make inorganic choices. The game drips style and atmosphere though.

I think that James' wife fell into a great depression after the death of their child, who was too small for the Icorite's transplant. So she contacted the drug dealer and commit suicide via poison. James felt into depression and wanted revenge and he chased the dealer and the rest is history. After his death, James' Icorite was transplanted into a body which did not have the appropriate biological parameters and that led to a split personality (the stranger). The same thing happened to Green and Kovalev because they felt guilty for the body harvesting and the new subscription's law.

I interpreted the safe’s door choice completely different. The way he said « it will blow *over* in a week » made it appear like it would make noise but would soon be forgotten and the powerful people would be back to their evil schemes. But if you close the door, the plan to stop what they’ve all been up to gets to go on. So I interpreted it that closing the door was the morally good choice lmao. Also there is no explanation for Bryan, his son. My guess is that he died somehow and that is what started Rachel’s desire to die? Idk
@storieswithcookie4 ай бұрын
Ah yeah I can see that. Both choices seemed pretty terrible either way haha
@torad_21203 ай бұрын
Despite everything, closing the door meant leaving them in there making it impossible for anyone to transfer them in new bodies, so you were basically killing them. Also i completely forgot he had a son💀
@Henry-f4t5w3 ай бұрын
I think the "stranger" said that as a manipulation to get you to close it off so there wouldn't be any evidence to be found.

Nobody Wants To Die because [redacted, see below] is the killer. Nobody Wants To Die because [every.body] is the killer, a killer the world spawned and will continue to spawn as a defense mechanism as counterpoint to man's unnatural ascent into immortality. In my opinion the Redemption arc is the technical true ending because it shows that the Stranger is in fact James in psychosis - not someone else, not someone using tech to take over bodies - just straight up psychosis. Green and others were also experiencing the things James was experienced as ALL humans will eventually in this world of buy-a-bodies; you can only go so long before the mind/body connection spawns psychosis. Psychosis will happen to EVERY ONE. Green and (possibly) the other fellow on the Icarus were also experiencing psychosis. Green was begging for mercy from himself - the terror inward become death. James shot up the train in that psychosis, so we see his perspective. The game tries to throw you off a little because Sara says the gizmo on his arm may use his own memories in the reconstruction. But it was him. Straight up. He was in fact trying to get the dealer who he 'thought' gave his wife the poison, but James himself is the one who bought it. The other endings are just as valid, but we don't get the fullest picture of what's really going on in them.
@bany5123 ай бұрын
well yes, we saw in the reconstruction in the red room that it was indeed Green that started the shootout and then killed himself. James is playing with the idea of someone being able to control people somehow, since he thinks that the killer is talking to him, but i thibk that its the psychosis thats "controling" people. and as the psychologist lady confirmed, there is an expiry date on your consc. which starts to show after 100 years or so. James is 150 or something like that.

This is really helpful. I was very confused. I got ending #1 and legit thought they ended the game without exposing who the murderer was and I was really upset. But this is a great explanation. Thank you!

So I guess the devs probably want you to get the Stranger endings on the first playthrough, as all the initial evidence points to him being the killer, meaning most first time players are likely gonna get it. But the Stranger whispers to you even after you killed Salma (which _should?_ also be the Stranger), which suggests you got it wrong. However, when replaying, they probably want you to pick different choices, which leads to re-interpretating the events as James' psychosis acting up, not the Stranger's revolutionary plot, and is the only way to achieve a satifying ending for James, by actually dying. I don't know how many people are actually gonna replay most of the same content to get a good ending though, and there's still a possibilty of fucking it up on top of that by shooting Salma, which ruins the Greene path. I imagine a lot of players are gonna get an un-satisying ending, not know about the alterntive interpretation, and leave it at that. It's a lot of grinding to do the same stuff again, with no guarantee of getting the "definitive" ending... I can't say I love the game design choice.

I got the “redemption” ending on my play though. Really happy about that, as even though I thought it was amazing, it was always going to be a one play though only for me.
@CorporaMedicina4 ай бұрын
here is what I think: he had a split personality and investigates himself. he was junkie and was supplied a bad drug which killed his wife, he then chased the dealer and caused the massive shooting in the train that killed everyone. Green kill all in the red room to cover up the body harvesting operation, and Kara kills him and Kovalev. Kara does not see who the murderer is since he is using his own memories to reconstruct the scenes, and because of split personality he does not see his other half.
@privak11754 ай бұрын
I was thinking something similar, a little different, but I do think the voice is himself and some of the scenes are his own. And the dealer theory makes sense as well.

I will replay again on the PS5 pro. I really like the setting. Something really different. I chose the one were I shot Sarah. I think they all had something in common that the ichorite was the murderer. Literally everyone was going through the same psychosis. No one really cared for the ones living in the slums. Rather it’s ones in the upper echelon. That’s where all the crooks gathered.

That’s an interesting theory! Agreed, this game is oozing with atmosphere

Great video, but I still don't get it. 😄🤣 SPOILER ALERT EVEN I DONT THINK ITS NECESSARY BELOW THIS VIDEO!!! First of all: Salma borrowed the body from Sara for a specific amount of money to get pregnant? So after the baby is born she gives it back? I thought she is a really famous psychologist or psychiatrist, shouldn't she be rich enough? Second: who is the killer? I have read multiple ideas. The most prominent seems to be, that there is no killer at all. Greene and that very skilled bartender both just somehow agreed to a mass shooting and hoped to die simultaneously. One idea behind this was, that the desynchronization gets worse and they tried to take the entire world with them, as it doesn't matter anymore (but I don't know how people can know this). But that leaves a few questions, about Salma or everything that happened. Third: I don't know how the subscription thing works: even if you get born, you have to pay subscriptions after the age of twentyone? And why is it important to keep your body healthy, they can't reverse aging, only transfer your consciousness, so the body is unusable after it died? Actually I don't know if I want to know the answer to the last question(s), that's pretty tough shit. Well overall it's an awesome game!

I loved the “very skilled bartender”, remind me of the Turkish guy of the Olympic Games, with a hand in his pocket and the other on the gun 😂

"Your" body is owned by the public in this world. I would interprete it as a flat for your conciousness. Till the age of 21 your conciousness stays "rent free"in the body, but after your 21st birthday you will need to pay rent. If your not able to do so, your conciousness will kicked out of your body and sold on an auction and your conciousness stays in a bank till somone pays a new body for you. Thats also the reason why its prohibited to damag your "body", because technically is not your posession, but public good and no one can choose whether they accept this deal or not by law.

Really enjoyed this game but I think regardless of having a "good" or "bad" ending due to your choices, it should still clarify with either ending what was going on - how Green and the other killings are connected to James' story. Looks like I had the escape ending but really it completely fell short with giving me any satisfaction by tying things up. It ended kinda meh for James, thats fine, but give me some credit for being invested in the story for 5 hours :D

From what I got its more that James is experiencing what Green was experiencing. And while he was trying to solve the Green case he's also losing it.

Thanks for the explanation. I still don’t get why Green killed himself though? Was it the because of the pyschosis or that was part of his plan
@Septqmber3 ай бұрын
What I pieced together: James Karra is a drug addict who either accidentally or in a fit of psychosis "poisons" his wife, which ends up killing her. Afterwards, a remorseful yet psychotic James chases down the dealer, who doesn't recall selling anything to a woman, hell bent on getting answers from him. It's obvious that James' inability to cope with his addiction and the destruction of his family, paired with the natural decay of the body and mind connection caused by swapping more and more bodies caused him to develop the murderer as a sadistic sllit personality, who just wants to burn it all down. The whole plot with Green and the rest was simply them trying to cover up their tracks. Which ended up killing them all. But in essense, James is fighting himself, his guilt, not for the train accident, but for the fact that his drinking and drug problem caused him to destroy his own family. Atleast this is what I pieced together so far.

WTH!!!!!! This channel is so SO underrated!! i wish you all the best, keep up you'll get there in a matter of no time, your content is so good. as for the game, yes the forth ending is the best out the bunch, but it's also extremely wrong in my opinion to normalize suic.ide like this as a "good" ending for stuff in your life, so i wouldn't actually recommend this to people as a game, i would only recommend it to 21+ as an experience and not a fun game to play.

4th is the real ending i think because stranger is james himself he let his wife of "killed" her himself as she was in pain then when she dies he couldn't accept it thus the psychosis then when he couldn't accept it thus it causes the birth of another split personality as in the end there is a recording as the narrator said... I really enjoyed the game but story seems old😂😂😂😂 like ive seen this kind of story many times 😂😂😂 it'll be a 7.5/10 for me
