I hope they discover who this woman was. Everyone deserves to be put to rest with a name, regardless of whether they have family or not. By now a lot of her family members could be deceased or too old to ever see her pictures once they finish her facial recognition.

Sadly. She has not been identified. Her Doe network case number is 520UFFL. She was between 21-35, 5ft6 - 5 ft 8 and 130-140lbs. I am sleuth. I will take a look for women who could be her, but considering her potential post mortem interval was so short, it is unlikely I will find anybody law enforcement has not already found and ruled out. But some people are not reported missing until years later, so that could be a potential explanation which could have been overlooked.

She has now been identified! My mother Evelyn Lois Horne...We just buried her May 4th, 2024 and she will have a headstone with her actual name on it. Rest in peace mama

I wish they would've showed an old morgue photo (Jane Doe) from 1982 because as people get older and grandchildren inherit things. In someone's pictures could be this woman when she was alive and well that were overlooked back then . For example , my grandparents both just passed away within 4 years of each other. I found alot of old photos and don't know many of these people. So maybe another person is like me and will see this news segment and recognize her through their photos.

They could not show a photo from then ,as apparently she was quite decomposed even then , so identification through visual recognition, would have been impossible ,poor lady !!

The woman was found dead in a canal in River Beach, Florida, but they believe she is from Washington County. For 38 years it has been a mystery as to who she and who killed her. They do have a suspect in the county. “There has been a person of interest in the case ever since 1982 but no case was ever made back then,” Chris Cassenari, the lead detective in the case, said. Cassenari said the suspect was near the area her body was dumped. He had burned his semi-truck only hours before. Witnesses also said they saw him with a woman who looked like Jane Doe. Initial detectives also found evidence of a long piece of hair inside the semi-truck, but they weren’t able to DNA test it at the time. But now, with modern technology, they are now trying to match the DNA from the piece of hair found to the victim’s hair. The new depiction of Jane Doe and the detectives’ partnership with Washington County Sheriff’s Office could also propel the case. “There’s a family that’s missing a loved one. At least it would bring them some type of closure,” said Johnny Barnes, the Sheriff in Washington County. The detectives were in the area this past weekend to interview the suspect. Though he denies knowing the victim, Cassenari says he hopes any help from people who can identify the picture of the woman can help. They say an associate of the suspect from the area may have recognized the woman in a composite photo. If you recognize the photo or have additional information about this case, detectives ask that you contact Chris Cassenari with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office at 772-783-5671.

Strange. The lift the casket out of the grave, it's obviously in a protective liner. They lift the liner cover and they beginning peering at a closed casket. It was opened yet. Wtf are they all looking at with such interests? Why didn't they at least show the casket being removed from its vault liner? I hope they update this case. It's a shame these people are victims of murder in the first place. But to be unidentified too? That's even worse! She has loved ones & also a killer that needs to be held responsible for this horrible lost of life!

If that is simply a grave liner, which is appears to be from the removal of the cover, it is simply a concrete container that prevents the soil from caving in as the casket decomposes. This prevents the graves from falling in, as is the case with some very old cemetaries.The grave liner offers no protection from water ingress or the elements. A burial vault, on the other hand, is sealed, and protects the casket from the elements. In perpetual care cemetaries, a burial vault is a requirement for burial. I suspect the minimum cost was expended in this case.

My apologies for the rude previous responses. They seem to think you know what they know because if they know it, then the rest of the World knows it due to the (proven) fact, they are the stupidest people in the World. That is a vault. Caskets are placed in them. The vault is often buried waiting sale. Then the crew digs up the vault to the top, cleans it out, prepares it for the graveside mass, then when the coffin is lowered and the guests have left, the backhoe comes and lowers the vault-top back in place. Then the vault is re-buried.

@@capie44 I can understand why some are asking as in England we are dreadful, they don't do anything like that ,they just put the coffin straight in the ground and then it sinks ,because it's literally smashed the newly deceased coffins ,our funeral directors and councils are disgusting ,and now when you bury someone you can only have the plot for 75 yr in total and you have to keep renewing it every 25 yrs, and after that total time ,they give the plot to someone else ,!! Unless you have other family members in it ,disgusting !!! I always wanted a wall crypt ,but in England we don't have them for burials ,not in this day and age anyway ,just the cremations ,America is much better with how they treat their dead !!!!!
