For the 5 year old cleaning her room: Yes, in my opinion you were being the asshole. Even though I can see your point of view as in that you think your daughter should just be doing that and not told to. She’s a child. This obviously meant a lot to her and she was reaching for your attention and wanted something that you could be proud of. You shutting it down like like must have been embarrassing and hurtful to her feelings because she spent time and effort on it without being told to do so. To summarize, you made her feel like her hard work wasn’t good enough probably, especially since she’s just a child. For children small things can be the bigger things.
@xxangeljessicaxx63922 жыл бұрын
She's five. You should've litterly be like "WOW THAT'S NICE!" Or just maybe said "good job!" Instead of acting like she's some 30 year old. She's just a kid and it's a big deal for them to do that. You need to say sorry to her. Especially when you said it in a rude and bad way.

Honestly, I feel like the dad was somewhat right but also wrong at the same time. Hear me out, she’s five, so of course she’s going to feel proud of herself for cleaning her room with no reminders. But, you shouldn’t reward someone for doing something that they’re supposed to do. He could’ve said something along the lines of “Hey sweetie! That’s awesome! Just make sure you keep doing this everyday.” Instead of saying something like “I thought you were going to tell me something important. This is what you’re expected of everyday.” His response was just a little rude tbh.
