Doc you have a thousand times more experience than me but in case it helps here's a tip: You can actually record audio really low in volume, like peaking at like -20 or -30 db. In post you can then first do your noise cancelling (as I'm sure you're doing) and then crank up the volume to your liking. This way you will still get amazing sound quality, as long as you stay below 0db in post obviously. Further you will have a fighting chance at getting usable audio even if the client starts screaming. Please don't take my word for it though and experiment on this first.

Also: the kinds of compression you use on it will have a huge effect on the quality of the sound. I reckon you could probably up the sound quality by 30 odd percent just by spending arouns 80USD on just a couple of plugins?

@@BigZach77 ahhh, Rx-7 is actually pretty good tbh. Matter of taste. Personally, my master buss chain tends to end up being Softube Tape -> UAD Fairchild 670 -> UAD Pultec EQP1A -> Neve 33609 plugin. But frankly, buying all of those plugins for your buss is unnecessary. If I were to use only one of them I would probably go with the 33609 plugin (has a limiter AND a compressor within the same unit). So you can kill both birds with one stone!!

Turning his eyes away or closing, isn’t something that would be overly obvious. Would have been pretty easy to overlook it all in the video.

Hi doc, I really enjoy a lot your videos, but you really should try to do something for lowering the audio when you start using that thing at 13:46 (sorry, can't remember the name 😁), it's way too loud 😅I guess you could simply use a limiter plugin on the audio stream from the video editor you're using, setting up the correct threshold it will do the job for you, instead of manually automating the audio levels. Hope it helps!
