That officer had no control over the situation. She was kind of complying because he had a badge but he projected no personal authority at all. I think the dashcam video pretty much shows why. Cops that overweight probably shouldn't be on the street, they're basically physically disabled at that size, even getting out of the car too fast is going to risk them blowing out a knee or something. It's not very intimidating.

A cop has no business "letting" her do anything. He pulled her over to see if the guy with the warrant was with her. As soon as he saw that the guy wasn't there that should have been it. He had no business telling her to get out, searching her purse, or putting her hands on her. He had no business detaining her past seeing that there was nobody else in the car. Civilians have every right to defend themselves against violent cops.

No he didn’t do everything right. Letting her back into her car where she could hide evidence or like in this case pull a firearm. The officers need to stop allowing those pulled over at a stop to use their cell phones to text or call because they tend to ask for other people to show up and had someone else show up with also a gun he would have most likely been killed. He also needs to lose a lot of weight and I don’t mean this to body shame because I’m also overweight but in his line if work it can make a big difference such as when they have to chase a suspect on foot. Also she had a lot of body mass to shoot him. He was incredibly lucky to have survived.

Officer definitely needs a desk job. He had no idea how to conduct a traffic stop. He let his suspect get away with too much movement back and forth to the car. Officers must always be vigilant at all times. She controlled the stop more than him. They need to show this video for training purposes on what not to do.

It is not useless and it can and does kill people but varieties in people and effectiveness is not universal, so it's not consistent. Bullets aren't universally effectivre either as she showed before dying. If the taser had flipped her wide as out, it would have been a better outcome. Likely no one shot and a citizen not dead.

I don't think so. A lot of people are saying they didn't think the officer here was following best practices for traffic stops. Sure anyone can Monday morning quarterback after the fact, I think some of what appears to he complacency was an attempt by the officer to deescalate or at least minimize further escalation.....but there are things we can learn here.

I don’t know how I would react when the officer started tazibg. I know if my life in danger I don’t care who’s harming me, I instinctively protect myself. I also can’t imagine being in the officers position. He asked her several times to keep still and not to move before he used the tazer. This is just sad all the way around!!!
