Yeah...the video definitely shows what a kind, gentle soul he was. I can't tell if he was kinder after attacking the first officer, or after attacking the second officer. So much kindness...it's really hard to tell. "and his only crime committed that night was drinking and having a good time with his family.." Uhmm...well...no, not exactly. His actual crime was attacking two police officers, even after being tazed.

@ChocoRobz2 жыл бұрын
So I'm not sure if the person who called 911 was related to the victim, I think that information remains unclear from this video. But regardless, she should have understood that calling the cops on someone should always be considered a last resort. Police are NOT club bouncers or bodyguards. If you call them and say that there is a threat, they will do what they've been trained to do and neutralize the threat no matter what. De-escalation is not commonly practiced among the cops in the USA so don't expect them to do that job for you. It's a shame how such a joyous event turned into an absolute tragedy for the family involved. Side note, notice how the victim's siblings knew that something bad was going to happen before it did and tried to de-escalate the situation when the cops arrived, saying that he was their brother and was just drunk. They knew very well in that moment, that even the slightest aggression towards the cops could mean that his life would be over. Him being drunk unfortunately only raised the stakes, as he may not have fully understood the gravity of the situation and was more likely to do something stupid.

Top comment, honestly. Two years ago I was traveling south two hours to another city for a concert. The highway was backed up for hours - it took six hours to make a two hour drive. We eventually found out it's because an intoxicated wrong way driver had killed himself and an innocent older married couple. In the news article about it, the family of the wrong way driver was adamantly defending him saying "The alcohol was to blame" and that "For those who don't understand him, I hope you never lose someone to alcoholism like this." No accountability and no one having the guts to stand up to people with severe issues is why people continue to have their awful behavior enabled. Furthermore, it's insane how many people excuse awful behavior because "they're drunk". If you're fully aware what type of drunk you are and you make the choice to consume alcohol, the consequences of your actions are still ENTIRELY up to you. You have a choice to drink alcohol. No one is forcing shots down your throat. It's genuinely mind-blowing to me how many people excuse drunk people because they're drunk. You made that choice. Others shouldn't suffer the consequences of your choices.

This video never ceases to get old. It so succinctly summarizes what police officers are forced to deal with, the danger they can get into very quickly, and the way family/bystanders can seriously fuck situations up. Without all of the women screaming, screeching, and blocking officers, this probably would have ended up differently.

Before any of you try to mourn for this guy remember that he was grabbing old ladies by the neck and punched a cop in the back of the head. As a grown man it is his responsibility to know how much alcohol he can handle. Unless someone was spiking his drinks it's his own fault that the police were called, and it's his own fault the police fired at him. Were these jumpy cops who fired too quickly? That's up to you to decide. But what we can all agree on is that if the guy was calm and cooperative he wouldn't have been shot and probably would have simply spent the night in the drunk tank and went home the next day. Instead he's dead because he started fighting for no reason.
