Given the warning given of his erratic behavior and the fact he carried a handgun, why did the officers not conduct a high-risk stop (also called a felony stop) instead of walking up to the vehicle. I'm just as sad and heartbroken as anyone over the deaths of two officers as anyone, but speaking as a 21-year veteran, I'm shocked this occurred in 2023 after all the specialized training that's out there concerning circumstances like these. The agencies involved need to review their training, determine the lessons learned from this tragedy, and make sure that everyone learns from this.

I 100 percent can understand how this happened. I can't even work a job where I get a paycheck. I live in Indiana and they garnish 77% of my wages. I can't afford gas to go to, and from work, I can't afford food, I can't afford rent, I can't even afford a vehicle and insurance. The jails are disgusting and unsanitary and you go in there for owing child support, and they put you in a room with people charged with or convicted of murder and other violent offenses. If they think they're going to come with an arrest warrant or arrest me for contempt for child support, it'll be over my dead body before I go back to that county jail. Quit sending people in the dangerous situation just because they owe money. And then you won't be in this dangerous situation.

Before I read this, I was literally assessing what happened and why, and the conclusion I came to, is that people need to be more free! When the walls start caving people snap. And that snap would never happen, if authorities stop getting in everyone’s business. Not everything has to be a law. I’m fortunate to be in a good place. @roadtorecoveryfitness actually officer scheel was a army vet. Officer bridenbach had been on the chetek force for multiple years with another force prior to chetek. Emily had already called for back up before initiating the stop and hunter was on his way. So emily used her door as cover until back up arrived when he opened fire on her door and the round went through the door and struck her, she did get a couple rounds off before he rounded on her and shot her several more times. Hunter pulled up behind Emily and was using his vehicle and hers as cover. The pos went around hunters truck and was going after him when his pistol jammed. I Would like to add Chetek's population is only 2,100 people. Cameron's population is lower at 1,800 people. It is not a heavly populated area being a vacation destination in north western wisconsin. The pos that shot and killed both officer Bridenbach and Officer Scheel was not even a quarter mile down the road from the high/middle school. And where he was pulled over right at hwy 8 and SS takes your straight to the sheriff's department which is where it is believed he was headed with the amount of weapons and ammo he had in his vehicle and on his person. What you see is not everything that happened and you do not know the landscape of where this happened. As there is a business less than 30 feet away from where these officers lost their lives.

The states are paid from our social security via title IV-D and they also keep the interest that they charge from arrears. And BTW everyone is automatically in arrears. I understand the circumstances that lead up to this stragedy. I'm broke, have been homeless several times now and acquired PSTD but still have humanity in my heart. My family immigrated here as refugees from Laos but I don't have documents to show work status in the US. My license was taken away and any little money I made was garnished by 50% because of child support. At one point, I felt that I had nothing left to live for. The court system could care less about you and your situation since they're just doing their jobs. I pray for everyone involved. Hate that officers had to die in this scenario, but let's be real, throwing warrants out about child support doesn't help anyone and it never has. I don't know all of the details, so I can't judge the divorce, but I can say from watching crap from my early childhood on that parents are vindictive towards each other and a lot of states are mother oriented. Now that I'm an adult, my parents are mostly fine, but it wasn't great for a hot minute. And my uncles been screwed by the system multiple times. How does locking someone up help them pay child support? It doesn't, it does the exact opposite.

It's not surprising that Perry reacted this way. What is surprising is that Judges, district attorneys, and ex-wives are still allowed to ruin a man's life through exorbitant and unreasonable child support orders, outrageous awards of alimony, and depriving him of his children with impunity. The ex-wife is lucky she didn't get wrecked in the process. This reaction is getting more and more popular. Look at the guy who whacked his whole family, including his mother-in-law, in Enoch Utah. Judges, prosecutors, and ex-wives need to be aware that this reaction is always an option when a man gets his life destroyed through divorce and child custody disputes. Don't write Perry off as merely unhinged. All divorced men think about this option. It's time for the judicial system to wake-up.

Revoking the license of a safe driver who cannot pay child support takes away a lot of their their ability to work and pay their future child support payments.

This is so heartbreaking! I'm sitting here wondering why the officer didn't take cover. At first, he ran for cover but then ran right back out into the open. You never run out into the open especially when the suspect has a rifle. Prayers to their family and friends, May They R.I.P.
