a short clip of all the 727s that fly into LAX. It is so great to see these classics flying today... what a treat.

that was the most awesome group of 727's I ever seen! LOVE IT! For a short time I worked as a ramp agent (Evergreen Airline) loading UPS 727's at PDX. LOVE EM! They are absolutely my favorite jet. Thanks you for posting this video (me an Ex hawthorne resident) now living in Oregon. So nice to see that they're still around.

Flew a lot on the 727s. The 727-100 is my favorite. Fast, comfortable, and well proportioned.

N289MT Raytheon Flight Test Operations Boeing 727-223(Adv) - AKA "Voodoo 1" This 727 is an avionics test bed for Raytheon and it has the nose cone of a F-15 grafted on to it to test the EASA radar along with a canoe-like structure under the forward fuselage for what looks like a side-looking radar or sensor pod, maybe for use on a current or future reconnaissance aircraft

I flew on quite a Delta 727-200's back in the early 90's between Portland and LAX. Quite a few were ex Western aircraft. Loved the planes. I always sat near the rear to enjoy the symphony. Those were the days when full meals were served onboard.
@fernando13e9 жыл бұрын
I can recall that same kind of experience, great old days indeed, Avensa had quite a fleet of 727s flying to Panama and Miami and man the food was just incredible, with some really good quality dishes, lasagna, sushi and spaghetti carbonara were the most common ones depending on the season and the chef, i imagine other airlines doing the same thing.. Now you only get some peanuts or cookies with a soda and if you are fortunate enough a crappy insipid sandwich lol.

I flew continental from SAN thru DEN to CLE in college. All 727. Noisy as hell in the last 10 rows. Landed at SAN in a Santa Ana in a 727 that was bouncing up and down about 200 feet each time. I'll never forget it. I was the best piece if flying ice ever seen.

According to Planespotters, it was in storage for about 4 months at LAX last year and is now in storage at Lasham, England (QLA) since October 5, 2012. So yes, unfortunately, I'd say it was on its 'out-to-pasture' flight probably.

Awesome video! I wonder what's up with the 727 with the purple tail, but no markings? It looks like it's ex-FedEx; hopefully it wasn't on it's final flight to be put out to pasture.

Very good video, I also wonder who the Boeing 727 first Jan appears the video reminds me of the Boeing 757 that tested the radar for the F-22 Raptor. Saludos

They are still in use for the same reason the L1011 & DC 10, gas guzzling smog belching air polluting balls to the walls flying jet. It works that's why, there are a lot of them to be had for cheap. For the number of them in use. fuel doesn't mean jack, fuel can be had for cheap, just got to know where to get it from / through.

JT8D is a low bypass turbofan engine.
@Alpa6c8 жыл бұрын
Every 727 was equipped with JT8D engines which are low bypass turbofan engines.
@Alpa6c8 жыл бұрын
If a gas turbine has any bypass air it is classified as a turbofan engine regardless of when it was designed. Again, the JT8D is considered a turbofan engine. I suggest a bit of research on the subject.
@Alpa6c8 жыл бұрын
I fully understand your post. It does not change the fact that all Boeing 727's were equipped with the Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine which is a turbofan engine. It appears you need to research gas turbine engines. www.pw.utc.com/JT8D_Engine
