Gerben Jongejan: He must be a pilot because that is a HUGE difference. Much like pilots reporting the magenta "maint" light is illuminated instead of the amber "maint" light on the P5 panel.

Likewise, the MAX P5 panel (Flt Ctrls) has an additional SPOILERS light, and further aft is the new ELEVATOR JAM switch. And on the Aisle Stand, the two Stabilizer Switches have been renamed to PRI and BACKUP.

i know this is gonna sound weird. but i work for an air museum and we have a 727. the right sliding window is falling apart. upon inspecting it it looks like i might be able to replace the entire thing with another unit we have. i dont want to touch the bolt that holds on the roller thing on the top without asking someone. and i figured it was worth a shot since the 727 and 737 have similar windows.

Is it me or does the B737 cockpit look like a mush of buttons seemingly haphazardly placed as there was space? Purely from an aesthetical view the A320 family (and the rest of the Airbus fleet) certainly have the cockpit laid out in much more user friendly layout.

still no EICAS even though it's 30 years old technology. still continuing the old switch and light combination instead of the PBA which was also available 30 years ago. still setting the course and NAV frequencies manually instead of the NAV/RAD page yet again available on the CDU 30 years ago but it still has manual reversion possible makng it the safest transport jet in the event of total loss of hydraulics pressure all you need is a pilot who can handle such emergency albeit they are getting fewer by the day...

Very nice overview - thanks! 07:47 onward highlights critical difference in electrical trim. At least as fas as I've read and understood. On the NG these 'STAB TRIM' cuttouts 08:33 clearly separates control of electrical trim for pilot and automatics ('MAIN ELEC' and 'AUTOPILOT'). It's not clearly shown on the Max picture, but those switches are redesigned as simply a 'PRI' and "B/U' for the same circuit/function - disabling or enabling electric trim access for BOTH pilots AND automatics _at the same time._ Once shut off, only the manual crank is available - impossible to move under maximum load in flight. That is unless you have several thousand feet of spare altitude to unload by 'roller coaster' descent method. Seems like a pretty major step in reducing a pilot's ability to take control from the automation while still having full access to powered assist moving a crucial flight surface?? Anyway, again great videos👍
@dynasty0019
@dynasty0019 3 жыл бұрын
The STAB CUTOUT switches, despite being labeled differently in the MAX, literally does the same exact thing since the -100. Nothing's changed in that department. Once you hit the switches, there's no more electronic stabilizer trim, only manual cranking, and that goes for ALL models of the 737.
