Boeing 737 Max planes are back in the air. Are they safe? | The Take

Planning a flight? Boeing’s 737 Max-9 is back in rotation, weeks after the US company came under fire for a near-catastrophic incident aboard one of its planes. Alaska Airlines 1282 was forced to make an emergency landing when part of its wall blew off mid-flight. It’s not the first time a 737 Max has had problems. So what’s being done?

There is only one reason why this has happened, greed. Boeing knew it would cost them billions in potential revenue to go thru a complete design overhaul so they cut corners. They didn't even tell pilots about the MCAS system. That's absolutely criminal. Shame on them putting profits over lives

no. that turnaround time for planes built so evidently badly is implausible, and the FAA has completely failed to reestablish its credibility. the delay for the MCAS-related recertification was strangely long, but there is no way they have now taken apart and reassembled those planes as thoroughly as the evident level of negligence in that spirit aerosystems factory calls for. they are basically testing for other faults on passenger flights, because they have only checked the planes for the already proven problems. the planes partially built in that factory will continue to be much less safe to fly than probably any other airliner in america.

yes you can. More often that not, when you search for a ticket, youll see what aircraft youll be flying on. Sometimes they do change it at the last minute for operational reasons but thats rare.

I had a flight recently from Bangkok to Taipei, and the cheapest OK airline flew 787s. I paid $100 more to fly on an Airbus.

@@aluisious @@aluisious 787 is apparently very nice when it works, but is also partially built by spirit. I don't know what the cutoff date should be, but I would absolutely trust older boeings, including older 737 models. I think the NG models were still fine, but don't quote me on that. as far as we know, boeing basically let spirit be responsible for all the shoddiness, so it appears like the reasonable thing to do if you don't think that the definitely very elevated risk of the max models and such is still low enough (since it may not be higher than the risks of other transportation methods) is to look up a complete list of all airliner models using parts built by spirit aerosystems, and avoid those. optionally also avoid all boeings newer than spirit aerosystems (unrelated to spirit airways btw, they must be livid xD). oh, and of course some airlines have renamed their maxes to something else. is it common now for boeing flights to be discounted? that would be pretty funny.

Pakistanis are so lucky, they have just 45 working planes of which just 2 are max 737 planes, ❤❤❤, extremely lucky guys.most of the other planes are more than 18 years old though.

manuals and traings are not great we had to inspect deactivated fuselage parts or sensitive ones and inspected more then instructed look further

@@nickolliver3021 because Boeing is a horrible company that knew about all the flaws that resulted in deaths. The Boeing 737 MAX passenger airliner was grounded worldwide between March 2019 and December 2020 - longer in many jurisdictions - after 346 people died in two similar crashes: Lion Air Flight 610 on October 29, 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 on March 10, 2019. They knew of these flaws and pilots repeatedly told the company there needed to be better training and more resech about the miscommunication between the software and its autocorrection aka over correction of the pitch of the plane in relation to a hardware piece that physically measured the pitch. These design flaws were brought to their attention and they decided it was worth the liability cost wise to lose a few planes than ground the whole fleet. In the end they killed hundreds of people and their company never really suffered much so they were correct this economic and government system rewards these choices.
