Just Planes returns to Norwegian for a 7th time! Our 1st time on the airline's Boeing 787-9 and featuring Oakland, California. On the way over we depart from Stockholm Arlanda Airport and return to Rome Fiumicino. Hosting this new program is the airline's Boeing 787 Chief Pilot.
As always we include as many pilot presentations as possible starting with the walkaround and trying to focus on some different things in the cockpit considering so many 787 programs have already been released. The views on approach to San Francisco/Oakland as well as on departure are a highlight of the program!

Looking at the world through the cockpit windshield of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. WOW!!! How cool this is. Some really fantastic aerial views and the pilots were obviously very experienced and so professional.This video just made my Monday get a whole lot better.

I miss my Norwegian Air pilot friends everyday and I treasure every experience working with them as cabin chief. Not a single flight went wasted; there was a lot to learn from the awesome pilots. Their crew briefings always complemented and strengthened my briefings to the cabin crew. As an American cabin crew, I shared some good work experiences with them as they with me. There was no language barrier between us and yet a lot of cultural awareness that made flying with them never a boring moment. Norwegian Air ceased service due to Covid 19 BUT will resume service on a different name run by familiar faces. I have faith that they will come back stronger and more enthusiastic. I will fly with Norse Atlantic not as cabin crew but as a loyal passenger. ❤️

Always love watching and listening to these pilots as they fly these amazing planes. This aircraft is beautiful and very quiet. I love the view outside these windows as well; beautiful view of the city and landscape. Awesome landing that sounds amazing but yet quiet by these amazing pilots. Very long taxing; I did skip some of that taxing until I saw some other planes. Another awesome video, I sure do love this video.

Thank you for posting this. Having lived in Oakland from 1967 - 2006 I made that approach many times. It always is a beautiful approach. I still can't get used to runway 30 after so many years of it being runway 29.

@@justplanes In 2013 Oakland International Airport covers 2,600 acres (1,100 ha) and has four runways. Changes to Earth's magnetic field required runways 27 and 29 to be renamed 28 and 30 in 2013.

So is landing primarily a function of reducing speed, as opposed to lowering the nose? When autopilot is turned off you see pilots working the stick or yoke. Is that for lateral control?

I've flown in and out of OAK plenty of times, but it sounds here like they weren't quite prepared for this flight. I'm guessing they don't often see larger planes like the 787 (based on the ground control it sounds like they don't have many gates that can actually take them.)

Yeshead that is true. Only a few gates but Norwegian operates several 787 flights a day. Well into the virus started. That has since been suspended.

Gates 1, 3, 7 & 8. 4x Norwegian's a day summer 2018 peak + BA 777 & Level A330. A little more relaxed post-Covid post NAX.
