I am so glad you do these videos. I am on week one of a severely colicky baby and your videos have kept me awake when I have needed to hold her for hours after work and I would say she is soothed by them as well. So from a very exhausted father THANK YOU!
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Derek, congratulations on the new baby. But I feel your pain mate. A few years ago now, but my daughter had the same, and the only way she or the wife got any sleep at night, was with her on my shoulder, as I walked up and down the room for most of the night. Then I was back to work at 7am in the morning. I've never been as exhausted as that, in my life since. Hope it soon gets better for you mate. It's good to hear the videos help. Thanks, and all the best, Terry.

Hi Terry. Great update mate, like your pagoda and Budda statues, can't say I noticed them on my visit, your upflow media is very light in colour compared to mine which is a coffee brown colour, maybe because I've pp'd the pond a couple of times since it's been fitted, still amazed at what it takes out 👍.
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marek, and thank you. Really enjoyed the visit mate. If you're ever this way again, you're always welcome. I will get a mug to you mate, only I've had to order some more. A browny coloured media is good though mate. It could be because I'm taking the water from my moving bed to feed it, so there's not to much ammonia and nitrite in the water. They are a great filter, I wouldn't be without mine now. You take care and stay safe mate, Terry.

Great update mate lovely mugs the collection is growing and as for the uv the oils and salts in the skin can cause hot spots on the bulb and shorten the life it shouldn't blow like a halogen as its not as hot. Stay safe hope to catch up with you sometime this year. Andy👍

Hi Andy, and thank you mate, much appreciated. That's right mate, I know on halogen you don't touch the glass, so I thought I not take the risk on these as their £80.00 each lol. Take care and stay safe mate, Terry.

The up flow is a real winner Terry i have a little problem with my one in that i don't push/pump through it i suck water through it this gives me a problem in that the k1 rises up out of the water as it blocks with the fines over a week like a Nexus or Eazy pod they have the same problem. i have two ways to fix it and the first one is plastic balls if that dont work then its a swap it to pump feed. you will see the problem in a week or two in a video have a good week mate love the CNC work
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, and thank you. That's the only problem with K1 as mechanical filtration. Just a thought mate, but could you put something like egg crate in the top to stop it rising to far. That would be similar to the top of my tube. It has a grid to stop the media rising. Have a great summer season mate, take care, Terry.

Just checked my power usage for the ASHP, from 1/11/21 - 15/4/22, we've used £179 and 872kWh. It triggered 161 times. We varied the temp between 16 and 13. We did have it turned off for about 8days when the circuit board went faulty.

Great video,would love to see a more in depth video of the skimmer, from my days of keeping marine tanks I have fond that skimmers work best if you don't clean the top part where all the foam is made as all the crud makes it easier for the new skimmit to climb up the tube, if it's too clean the protien will slip back down the nice slippy tube
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, and thank you. I do have the build plans on my website diypondfilters.com for the protein skimmer if that's any good for you. That's right mate, but I haven't done any cleaning on the skimmer, but it will have dried out since last season. I think it will be ok once it's been running a while. Thanks again mate, and take care, Terry.

Hi Terry another great video nice tour around your filter house and garden like your new thermometer on your shed could you send me a link to where you got it from would look good on my pond .Also would like to ask about your experience with 3 stage dechlorinator put a new unit in my filter house last December first time used these type how often due you need to change all 3 cartridges have been told every 6 months not sure .Have rinsed first one in clear glass in a bucket of water seemed to do trick 👍
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, and thanks mate. You can buy those thermometers on eBay, They're about £9.00. With the 3 canister filters, it really depends on how much water goes through them, and how much they're used. The main thing we use them for is to remove some of the chlorine in the tap water, before it goes into the pond, as it's not good for koi. So it's the carbon filter in it that's the important part. I change mine about twice a season. Hope this helps mate, Terry.
@martinsmith64572 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, RDf still going well, 2nd season now. Do you think that the upflow would drain the dirt better if the media didnt travel all the way to the bottom of the tube. so put a grid in say 6" up and extended the air pipe ?? might be worth a try??
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, good to hear the RDF's doing it's job mate. In the video you couldn't see it, but there was a lot of dirt in there, I'd left it 5 days which is too long for my pond. I have been thinking of doing something to hold the media off the bottom, which like you say might help. I'll give it some thought mate, and thanks for the suggestion Martin. You take care mate, Terry.

Hi Terry, Where to you buy your welding rods from. We plan to have a go at a bog filter like yours. We have black PP sheet.
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I get my welding rods on eBay, just do a search for 5mm PP welding rods, but I would hang on with the bog filter build mate, as I'm going to modify mine. The plants are looking a bit anaemic, they're yellow instead of a nice green. I think it's because the gravel is too deep, so I'm going to cut the filter down a bit, so the plants are in the actual flow of water. I think it's because the water on the top of the bog is static. Hope this helps mate, Terry.

I'm loving those designs you're making on the CNC. Blossom is a real pain for ponds this time of year. I've got 4 trees around my garden that deposit petals in my pond when the covers are off. I end up having to clean the skimmer basket a couple of times a day when it's bad. Are you going to start collecting the mugs now? Quite a few of us are. If so let me know and I'll send you one of mine. I think I've still got your address from when I made you the hat and patches.

Hi Jim, and thank you mate. I do enjoy doing a bit on the CNC I must admit. I know what you mean mate, I've got 3 trees around my garden that drop blossom, and their not even my tree's lol. I can guarantee the wind is always blowing it towards my pond when it drops 😏😏 which is about my luck lol. The mugs are nice, but I'm not going to start collecting them, I have nowhere to put them, but thank you for the offer mate. You take care and stay safe, Terry.
@renomacca19672 жыл бұрын
what order do you have your filters please all the best andy
@Wrighty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, from the pond it runs through the Sieve filter, then through the pond heater and to the RDF. From there it splits and half goes to the moving bed and half through the bakki shower. The up-flow & protein skimmer draws water from the moving bed. Hope this helps mate, take care, Terry.
