Spurred on by her own near-death experience at age eight, hero diver Zina Slew says she is happy to continue saving lives without payment. News broke Monday morning that the Bog Walk, St Catherine, resident, who saved five persons from a watery grave last year, had rescued yet another person who was trapped in his vehicle while it slowly sank to the bottom of the Rio Cobre in the vicinity of the Flat Bridge. According to Slew, it was about 9:30 a.m. when her daily routine was interrupted by the near tragedy

There are still genuinely kind and loving people out there! And as you rightly mentioned, it takes guts to jump off in that water, swimmer or not. I'm a swimmer but that water looks mad scary so she's a true heroine. She just wanted to save this person. Her level of selflessness is second to none. God bless you and your sister always.🙏🏻 Whenever I'm crossing that bridge am always on the alert. Seat belts off and windows down. Hope drivers will take heed to her advice. Life is all we have. Zina Slew is a heroine. She, without thoughts of her safety, plunged into the river to try and save another. This was a good deed, but even moreso it was PURE GOODNESS - the action of a good Samaritan. She deserves a medal and a certificate of appreciation from the relevant authorities. Thanks bunches ZINA for your timeless gift to humanity. CHEERS!

Franklin Chin Quee. So are so right. They are heroines she and her sister. They deserve a lot of recognition and all those people whom they've saved over the years should at least come back once in a while to say thanks. If it hadn't been for their bravery they wouldn't be alive today. They should remember that
@franklinchinquee4293
@franklinchinquee4293 2 жыл бұрын
@@dorothysmith3205 Please remember that doing a good deed is transactional; something is expected in return. GOODNESS is the doing of a unique action, without the expectation of a compensation. If she was to expect a "thanks," that would dilute her exceptional and risky humanitarian action. Thanks bunches.

I just cannot imagine someone saving my life and not at least thanking the person. I would be indebted to him/her for the rest of my life. Usually when someone has had a bad experience with water, such as almost drowning, the person avoids water. This woman is to be admired.

Its not only to thank the person but they should reward her
@TheDarkDresser
@TheDarkDresser 2 жыл бұрын
@@teejaygrant5783 I agree that there should be an award AND a reward. These women risk their lives to save others, so it would be the right thing for the local government to acknowledge their bravery. I'm extremely, EXTREMELY, disappointed that so many whose lives they have saved have not returned to thank them. Maybe they've been traumatized by the experience and want to put it out of their mind, but that's not really an excuse. It would be worth it in lives and heartache for the government to employ them to train others in learning to swim. Imagine if as a child this lady had drowned that day, she would not have been around today to save others from drowning.

I would love to donate to this young lady and I think an account should be set up and properly monitored so we can try to compensate all persons who risk their lives to Save others. It is an extremely dangerous route which I use to transverse frequently. I am so grateful for the new highway as I always had my windows up and not remembering to have a hammer in my vehicle. Once it goes under it can only be broken. Remember to wind down windows as you are approaching the bridge. Blessings and be safe everyone🙏

I wish I could swim. It is such an important skill not just for relaxing or helping yourself, but for helping others who may be in trouble. If you can swim at least you can lend a hand and try to save someone; but if you can't swim you can only stand aside and look, call for help and watch while a person dies. Thank God for this woman.

Frightening... God bless you, dear.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️😞 I wonder if some people panic when they are crossing the bridge? Unless it is a big rig it seems quite simple to slowly cross. The government NEEDS to support these heroes ASAP.💖
