BOGGED ON THE HOLLAND TRACK - Hardest Track Yet!!!

The Holland Track has been on our list for a very long time so we were super keen to tackle it and see what it was like. We almost didn't do it, but the weather this week was perfect and we were in the area so we thought why the hell not? What we didn't realise was that this would be the hardest track we've ever tackled and our old girl ended up stuck in the mud. Karsten you "wild man", a wise old man, (my dad), once told me when I was a kid, "boy you go looking for trouble, it'll find you every time!". I kinda think that's what happened there. This Oka, the bigger it is the heavy it falls ie weight in mud. goes deeper, harder to extract. Also, like my MB Sprinter 4x4, height and bloody tree branches start to impact. Still, you'll work it out no doubt.😅 When you cut across to Alice next time, wander out to Castle rock - out past Gemtree roadhouse and fossick for garnets.

By the way if you put a relay on the starter solenoid wire running a 20 amp plus feed from the main starter cable it will save you from having to crawl under and jump the starter solenoid.

Loved how the Kombi kept churning forward albeit with a winch. A lot of 4WD's would've been at least as bad off. You're right though. You've got to know when to stop and consider your position. Congratulations on the good news and well done on the track.

@@KarstanAndMaxine When you use your maxtracks in muddy and or soft sand type conditions, I have found, that it is advisable to attach a few meters of rope to each one and lay that rope to the outside of the tracks, so as to make it easier to find them and then pull the tracks out, after you have used and buried them.

Thanks so much for showing so much of the 'real' Holland track experience. I was on my way to Coolgardie in Nov 22 and decided to take the 'scenic' route of the Holland Track. Unfortunately the week before they'd had quite a bit of rain in the region... after a lot of umming and aahhing, I decided that as I was solo, it was not worth the risk. Given the state of the track on your drive (after several months of very dry weather), your experience has highlighted that I made the correct decision. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures :)

Very smart choice, i got stck at Haig on the Nullarbor in the November 22 storms, dis the connie sue to Cocklebiddy and got quite royally bogged , 8 hours on a shovel not fun, if you did the hollland, you'd still be there

The Holland in a Combi? Hmmm, makes me wonder if we should try in with the Coaster? Maybe I'll re-think that by the time I have seen this whole episode :) Later: Yeah, I don't even think the Coaster would fit along some of those tracks. Interesting to see the track when it's dry. Everyone seems to drive it in the middle of winter.

The stuff in your drink bottle is called "Algie".its the build up of mould,espeicaly if your water pipes and water tank are not opaque,They need to be either black or opaque to stop daylight getting in and causeing the mould to grow.But if your last fresh water top up,already had traces of mould in it,you will have it now.Only way to get rid of it is to flush the tank & pipes out with a mould killer,then heaps of flushes with fresh water to clean out the mould killer.Even extra heat can damage fresh clean water.

We all make mistakes on tracks, I mad many as reading some wrong, in the Army with a Unimog got sucked into a track that ended up been a underground water course, the track broke up and the 2x Unimogs behind me also got sucked bogged up to the tray body's and the water flowed, at much as bad as it was we learnt a lot plus had so much fun, now we laugh about it, congratulations on the pregnancy plus what I like you have a fun loving family
