Let me say , i Pay 2000 euro for the Bogner Atma , and at first sight they are expensive , but after one week , i say its Price Worth 100% And When i see(and Hear) This Helios Rolls Royce of 100 Watt Heads , and How VERSATILE it is , and How 150 % the Sounds Are ...this Amps are 100 % Serious the Best things i´ve heard ...LOVE it ..

I'm lucky enough to have just received a Bogner Helios 100. It's absolutely awesome! Really an incredible amplifier. I have it plugged into an Orange PPC4x12 straight 240watt cabinet and it sounds brutal. My main guitar is a black Fender Telecaster '72 Deluxe loaded with [two] The Creamery Wide-Range pick-ups, custom/hand made in the UK, drop tuned to B, so there's a very heavy sound. The Helios 100 has endless amounts of gain of which I use a lot, pretty much turned up all the way, however drop tunings and heavy Rotosounds [54-13s] contribute a lot, not to mention a Matchless Hot Box III going through the front end too. Fully recommend this amplifier.

This amp is Bogner's version of a Marshall.. Its Marshall tone 90 % of the way. Yes Bogner amps don't sound like Marshall's but with the Helios, Reinhold made an exception !

My first "real" amp was a 2 channel dual rec I bought back in '99 as a teen. I remember at the time reading a small article in Guitar World about the Bogner Ecstasy and how tons of big players had used it in the studio and how it combined the great characteristics of a Boogie and a Plexi. I was interested....but no way I could afford one. Fast forward to now and I have a mid 90's Ecstasy. Probably my favourite amp overall that I have owned. The Blue channel is Plexi-ish to modded Plexi-ish, albeit with more low-mids. The red channel, even on the older Ecstasy, can easily do metal. Doesn't have quite the low end of a recto, but definitely has as much gain and is tighter and cuts better.

This amp really does sound great. Everybody thinks it sounds like a Marshall but none of the Bogners sound like Marshall, they have their own tone, WAY better IMHO. I want to hear a SHOWDOWN between the Helios and the Friedman Brown Eye. Only think I don't like so far about the Helios (besides the ugly panel foo-foo drawings) is the two channels aren't foot switchable.

Ron Huther He goes for a sound thats similar but with more depth and that Bogner 3D mids. He's stated several times he don't want his amps to sound like a Marshall or any others. To me this amp sounds WAY better than any Marshall, EXCEPT a real 59' Plexi FULLY cranked, but thats near death dB loud.

The 100W version can be switched down to 30W, but 30W cranked is still loud as hell. Wish they offered a switchable 50W/15W on the 50W Helios. At 15W, you would be able to get some power amp distortion without going deaf.

The 50 watt has a variac switch and brings it down to 32 watts. And u can also lower it with that switch in the back. Way more spongey and cushiony than the atma. I would've kept the atma but well I won't say anything else. Helios is great though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality foot switch as described in the manual? In the manual it states; "Here you can hook up a standard dual button on/off foot controller with a stereo plug as well as any other controller units. The action is steady (latching) with the tip of the stereo plug switching the channels and the ring controlling the effects loop. The Helios is shipped without foot controller and at time of release Bogner has no foot controllers available"

james brown the Friedman smallbox limited is way better. It's quiet. No radio stations on the highest gain channel which is higher gain than the regular smallbox. Just sounds s bit better. Sorry RB.

You can get the 50 watt it has a variac switch in the back to bring it down to 32 watts and another knob in the back to lower it even more.

This is a video manual, but in the real manual, when you go into the 30 Watt mode, you are supposed to change your speaker impedances by half, Reinhold does not talk about that, and you can hurt your transformer if you don't do that, BE AWARE AND BE CAREFUL

+Rs Mento Hi! Do you mean to lower your speaker's impedance? It won't hurt the transformer or power amp if you plug cab with higher impedance than it usually requires. It'll make the tone bit darker, but everything will be ok. The real problem is if the cab's impedance is lower, than it should be. Then it'll definitely damage the output transformer.
