Interesting that right at the start of the shot of the pier (1:10) you can see that most of the pier was still there, including the "marooned" end section that had become disconnected from the main section..

I found these on my parents' old home videos. I've been told they are from Summer 1995 or 1996. There wasn't any more footage of the beach I'm afraid.

@Richard James Kemp Agree here, the shots of the car boot sale in the old bus station show the fuel storage tanks still there, all this was gone by the mid 90s, they demolished that whole area, and the pub on the corner which you can still see in this footage, most of the cars are late 70s to early 80s models, dates it mid 80s or a little later, i would say a little earlier 84/86

Lovely video - thanks for uploading! Any idea what year this was? I've been looking for photos or films of Bognor Pier and seafront amusements from this kind of era for years and this is the nearest I've got! I guess you never filmed any more of the seafront? Sorry, as you can probably guess, I'm pretty desperate to find old pictures. lol

Jeesh, this brings back bad memories, lol. I use to live in Pagham around this period. Never liked the area at all, the people are odd, strange, stuck up (certainly in Pagham) and think they are the dogs bollocks. No thanks, glad I moved to Wales and have a great life here in the mountains, running the business and being around real people. Bognor will always be a sh*t hole, as will Pagham and the surrounding area in general. Overrated.

Nice to generalise the whole place based on your personal experience. I’m from London, moved to Bognor for 7 years before moving on and yeah I met some twats but also some great ppl. Wouldn’t change it for the world. Great place.
