This is one of the most overplayed songs of all time, but it's always great to hear a vastly different version.

May I ask what material is the sheet made of? Is it wood or some sort of thick paper?

The music is made of a strong two-ply card formed into a zig zag book

@@Mekanixmuzak Along that line I would wonder of the reason between rolls and these folded books. The books would pack into a smaller space and not need to be rewound, but the fold seems like a weak spot and they seem to need thicker paper than the rolls. Any comments?

Hello Thomas..... Thanx for you interesting comment. To be honest with you, I don't know the real answer to your question but Here is my half dollar's worth on the subject. Both the roll and card systems were introduced to musical instruments at around the same time C 1890's. However the Card system was already well developed as it was used in the Jaquard carpet weaving machines. These were separate 2 ply sheets of card stuck together and joined by some sort of wire fixing. (I'm not sure here) The early Fairground Organ Books employed a canvas hinge sandwiched between the layers of card. This proved to be very time consuming and costly in manufacture. Hence the system we use today. Rolls are very convenient for indoor use and they too were used on Band organs, Namely Wurlitzers in the U.S.A. They got over the reroll issue by putting ten tunes onto a roll. I suppose they still needed time to reroll. Also if a roll gets damaged, repairs are not very easy to carry out. Your Thoughts !
