Boy, the Altos have a heck of a moment playing electric guitar from the bottom of page 9 to the end of page 10. You never see anyone challenge an Alto section like that. It's REALLY high for the average alto, but I love it. There are so many little Easter eggs like that in this piece.

Philip Lawson really did “Bohemian Rhapsody” justice. I’m glad that he had the confidence in giving the tenors melody instead of giving it to the sopranos.

I couldn't agree with you more. I love Sopranos, but there are times when it just doesn't make sense for then to have the melody, if not inappropriate. This is a pop arrangement, not a classical one. Kirby Shaw is the worst arrangers for just giving the Sopranos the melody regardless of the setting, and boy, when it's bad, it really bad.

@@RedNekLvr22 maybe it's the alto in me(other voice parts will agree) but I hate when the sops get the melody all the time! Especially when it's in perfect alto range. Or worse they make the altos sing higher! Ex in middle school we did ho hey by the Lumineers and the sops got the melody🙄🙄🙄

@@jennakeith5711 I think it's just lazy arranging. I would find putting the melody with another part while still making the soprano harmony part enjoyable a challenge to savor. I think one of the big problems is that these arrangers have so many projects that they don't have the time, or don't care to make the time, they need to accomplish something wondeful like this arrangement. Agree?

Wow. That was absolutely brilliant. Bravo, Mr. Lawson. Thank you for understanding the importance of letting the 1st Tenors take the lead in this. Thanks for not being afraid to compose a challenge for a choir. Thanks for taking this song to a place I've never heard it be taken to before. It's really hard to have a 70's pop arrangement move me so much, but it did.

@Jonverse: Agreed. It's much better to stick with "Doo" or "Ba da" as your default vocal than "nyeah nyea nyeah"

Mr. Lawson makes it clear in the note at the bottom of the page that one may substitute other vocal sounds in place of a guitar sound. I think that's fair. :)

I love complete a capella choir arrangements and I'd love to do this one with the choir I sing in (won't happen because we're not enough singers and especially not enough male singers). We just sang a song called "Stomp Box", in which all four voices mimic electric guitar sounds. As everything it's a matter of taste with such things, but for me it's so much fun and it also shows the power of the human voice 😁
