Most biopics fail to impress me. However, given how central Queen's music was to my formative years, and how this looks like a worthy homage to Freddie Mercury, this trailer left me with a lump in my throat.

The thing that got me was a quick view of the stage as they sung We Will Rock You. I recognized it. I was in the audience during that tour! (The light panels gave it away.) I'm now misty eyed. One of the fondest memories I had of my teen years was brought to life.

It's important to include his sexuality, it's a part of who he was, but at the same time it's important to his memory to not make it the focus because he didn't. As he said, it doesn't matter, he simply makes music and that was how he lived. We love who we love and it shouldn't define us. Just let it be natural, the way it should be.

The thing that attracted me to Queen's music was the harmonies. Here's a rock band with great harmonies who refuse to be put in a box and aren't afraid to be different. The We will Rock You/We are the Champions song (I always put them together) is empowering. Unifying. And yet on the same record you can hear what is a slow jazzy blues standard that sounds like something you'd hear in a 1920's speakeasy ,a song that's mostly Freddy and the piano called "Melancholy Blues".

Can you imagine how people view the song "We Will Rock You" if that Clap Clap Stomp had never been put into the song for the audience to perform with them?That honestly blows my mind, i had no idea that was designed to get the audience involved I thought that was just something people did for that song as some spontaneous tradition at football games! Queen not only created a legacy they created musical Anthems that will echo throughout time and Freddy Mercury was the voice. That and personally I hope Don't Stop me Now is featured in this film somehow, it's one of my favorite Queen songs X3

@ocularnervosa6 жыл бұрын
You have to remember that Queen came out when FM radio was coming into it's own and radio stations were willing to step away from the classic format of the 3 minute song. It's the reason why songs like American Pie became popular in the 70's. Had a song like Bohemian Rhapsody came out in the 60's it would have gotten zero air time. It was the right song at the right time and that will probably come up in the movie.
