[BOHOL] Getting Treated at a rural hospital in PH

To my kababayans, As a person who is a frequent patient of my city's Animal Bite Center, I would really advised everyone who was bitten or scratched by any animal to go to their local health centers. Immediately after washing the wound with anti-bacterial soap on running water. DON'T WAIT FOR DAYS. You need to get the anti-rabies shot and anti-tetanus shot within the first 24 hours of exposure. Rabies and Tetanus doesn't have any cure. Once a person contacted rabies and tetanus and didn't receive any treatment and vaccines, there's no turning back. Take it seriously. They will also ask you to monitor the animal who bitten or scratched you for 14 days. If the animal died within 14 days, that animal definitely carries rabies. In my city, the veterinary office will collect the head of the dead animal so that they could submit it to RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine) for further studies about rabies. Kaya kung may ganitong public services sa lugar niyo, take advantage of it. Kasi hindi lahat ng lugar sa Pinas ay accessible ang mga libre or murang bakuna. Kung may libreng anti-rabies shot for your animal friends, grab it na din. For your safety and for their safety. Yun lang. Ingat po kayo lagi! 😄

what I know is that it's not just one shot..they' ll give u sched when to return for the nxt shot and u shld follow, if your sched lapse you will start again to step 1, keep ur record, they will ask for it nxt time, u may go to any other hosp ... stay safe! :-)

Dermal injections are the most painful types of injections. As a student nurse who tried and practiced all types (dermal, subdermal, intramuscular, and intraveneous) I swear I see stars if its dermal injections 💀

If you're dog is healthy and just stayed at the house, not a stray dog like going anywhere it is safe no need to worry about the rabies. All you have to do is clean and wash the wounded area and done.

i think jardrei can get anti-rabies shots from the rural health animal bite center for free! so that u guys can play with him with no worries EDIT: for free anti-rabies vaccine for pets, go to the nearest or your local bureau of animal industry (under dept of agriculture), not animal bite center 😅

Some cities/municipalities don't have an animal bite center. Depends on the location and type of wound, the health professional will decide if they can do the treatment and intervention on the center or they will have to advice you to go to a bigger hospitals. Some cities will give you some monetary assistance if you have to get treatment on a bigger hospital.

They come hand-in-hand. Since getting scratched or bitten by an animal causes wounds, it is safer to get anti-tetanus shot as well. If you have already completed the anti-tetanus immunization, you will be immunized for a decade against the bacteria.
