I have the RWS - US Games - 1971 deck as well...I do not have a box or book either. It was gifted to me wrapped in a silk scarf in the early 80's by a seer friend of mine. In those days readers were very mystical and my friend read cards in the back of a tea house. The edges are very fluxed, actually the boarders are uneven from so much shuffling and the cards do have a very soft feel as well as all those garish RWS colours are almost muted in this deck...it is one of my prized decks!!!

I just recently pulled my Tarot cards out of storage & have both the Morgan-Greer & Rider-Waite like the ones you show in the video. So glad to have these "vintage" cards in my collection too! Well-loved & I remember purchasing both decks!

I have both of those decks, too - the 'vintage editions' that my mother purchased new :) My Morgan Greer box is different though, teal, and no flaps, it is a 2 piece box.

My Morgan/Greer's box has a picture of the Q of S instead of writing on the back of it. The copyright says 1971, 2019 on the box. My identical Waite/Smith has that exact same cardstock, so lovely to shuffle, but the colors are brighter, and the copyright also says 1971, 2019. So I would say those two are vintage for sure, since the copyright is 1971. 😊 Thanks for this vidro, I enjoyed it!

I don't have decks like these yet but I enjoy watching the videos! :D I ran into a Morgan Greer thread on the tarot forum that was comparing the backs, this seems like the older, original printing.

I just kinda got into the collecting aspect of tarot and discovered tarot tube and whatnot when d.v. went... off. I was semi obsessed with getting her cards. Lol. I've got a few decks including that angel deck and most of them are quite good.

I have the same 1971 RWS and I totally get you about the card stock!! It's the best. I bought it as it us my birth year. Mine is so dirty all round the sides, really grubby. But it's 51 years old so she is allowed to he dirty round the edges 😏 xx

I have that same RWS with the same feel and I have no idea how old it is but considering it was in a storage box for at least 15yrs it's older than my others🥰 (and I'm a shuffle heathen too then! 😅)

I have one of those vintage RWS, it's from the 90s and I think printed in Belgium. I knew LLewellyn and TotTrees would be here, also figured Antique Anatomy...but I loved that mod. Really enjoyed seeing some old decks from old videos, revisiting old friends. I thought Anna K would make the list.

For the plaidback, the older ones have different backs (cards not all the same) because it was a big sheet printed with the plaid and then cut whereas newer ones have the same backing printed as a unit on each card. Not sure when that changed exactly, Mindful Tarot would know, but yours looks like the backs are different.

Dawn Michelle, you have really led the pack on deck-soul reporting plus cardstock wherewithal. We always learn so much from you! Couple comments. First, I don't know why you continue to put up with crappy cardstock and put countless hours into modifying to make it work. I don't care how good a deck is ~ the hard-as-rocks un-bendable cardstock just ain't worth it. There are too many decks out there that serve similar purposes as whichever deck in question is giving us grief ~ and I've learned to give it a hard move-on. Second comment, But Thank Goodness for patient people like you, or we would never know how to mod those decks that just ain't worth the effort but we end up making the exception anyway. Appreciate ya kiddo.

haha thank you so much! Oh believe me, there are some decks that I'm like "yeah, you just ain't worth the mod" lol But, in general, I do find modifying my decks to be a fun process and at the end of the day, that's usually why I'm willing to put the time in... Other times, like the Dreamkeepers, it's because I'm a Taurus and can be stubborn as hell and I'm not going to let the deck get the best of me. :)

I have a very old Morgan Greer, one of the first editions and it has really weird cardstock (not too thin but slightly flimsy) and backs that aren't uniformly printed so blues come in different shades and they're very uneven. It looks similar to yours. And some of the fronts are slightly blurrier than what you'd expect.

Yes, the Morgan Greer deck you have is definitely vintage 1979. There was another MG deck in 1981. Also, they have the Mass-market MG decks and the ones with the tin.
