I'm from Dawoodi Bohra community and there are many things i need to share that we keep in mind during our meal like: 1. The youngest in the thaal or the host washes everybody's hands in the thaal. 2. Pray Bismillah before beginning the meal. 3. Fixed sitting posture during the meal (Same as like we sit during Namaz) 4. Eating every new dish in the thaal is started by the most elder in the thaal 5. We try to avoid discussing any tensions during the meal and maintain a respectable and lovable environment and enjoy our meal. 6. Begin and end our meal by tasting a pinch of salt. 7. Thank the Lord for this meal and pray for our Daai. How busy we may be in our daily lifestyles, but we make sure that atleast once in a day all our family members sit together and enjoy the meal. The host of the show nikhil respected the bohra caste and put forward a relevant question of us being called "bohri"(slang which many ppl use to call us comparing us to boris or gunny sacks) as it is more respectful to call us "bohra".. The way they pronounce "Thali" is like a "Taali" which in Telugu means ornament which married women wear, an equivalent of North Indian Mangalsutra.
